Each of us have favorite memories from our childhood. Spending hours outside playing with our friends, learning to play an instrument, shooting hoops or starting a game of impromptu catch may be just a few of the experiences that are remembered with fondness. "I was pretty young,” she explained in a recent Charlotte Magazine article. “For some reason I was in the house and the women’s NCAA Championship game was on. My sister said that I couldn’t play on that level and that I couldn’t do what they were doing on television. I didn’t tell her how I really felt, which was ‘How dare you say that!’ But that was motivation. Internally I was motivated - I’m going to play in that game on TV.”

“I had a great childhood growing up in Canada,” she said. “I’m from Toronto. It’s home to me and my family. It wasn’t much different growing up there, Canada is like the little brother to America. I played all kinds of sports growing up….softball, figure skating, volleyball. I also swam a lot. But my height eventually led me to basketball.”
