Not likely. Duke averaged 6200 fans in 2003-2004, and about 5000 fans per game in 2004-2005. Are people going to drive over 2 hours each way from Durham/Raleigh/Chapel Hill to see Currie? Doubtful, IMHO.
Stinson played in the Triangle area as well...that was my point. It would be different if Currie played collegiately in Charlotte.

| Staley went to UVA, Bullett was an ACC product, etc. There have been a lot of former ACC players with the Sting. And it hasn't made much of a difference in terms of attendance. Not saying it couldn't happen with Currie, but the odds are stacked against it.

| Does UNC have good attendence? Because I was thinking if these bad seasons keep up, they could draft Ivory Latta in a few years.

Not really. None of the triangle teams have especially good attendance.

| I agree with Cam and pilight on this one. Whalen and/or McCarville playing right there in the Twin Cities might have made a difference, or DT playing in CT, but with the combination of lesser attendance in the Triangle and the distance too Charlotte, I wouldn't expect much of an attendance boost from Currie. However, if at the same time they started winning and moved into their new arena, it might work altogether to improve attendance by a significant amount.

Duke has averaged between 4,000 and 6,200 fans over the past 5 years. The arena holds 9,314.
UNC, with the exception of the Duke game, draws under 2,000. NC State is not much more.

You would think teams like UNC, and Duke that go to the NCAA tourney every year, would get more love than that. Although, they also compete with really good mens basketball programs.
