My girl Shay Doron from UMd should be a 2007 W prospect. Just wondering if she would be the first.

I think Mila Nikolich was Israeli (which I know is not necessarily the same thing as Jewish). Other than that, I can't think of any.

Jews currently or recently affiliated with the WNBA:

Leslie Alexander - Owner, Houston Rockets/Comets
William Davidson - Owner, Detroit Pistons/Shock
Abe Pollin - Owner, Washington Wizards/Mystics
Seth Sulka - GM, Phoenix Mercury

Jamila Wideman is the daughter of a Jewish mother and African-American father.

Several!

Alana Beardowitz
Diana Taurasowitz
Sheryl Swoopestein
Lisa Leslieman
Rookie Kristen Berg-mann

and of course Sue Birdstein.

They just shortened their names to make it easier for the announcers.

Cam or dts...I think I remember something about where one of the parents being Jewish establishes the child's identity as a Jew...and I could swear that it was the mother's identification that established it, not the father's, for some odd reason.

If anyone knows anything else about this obscure notion, please clarify for us all. I am willing to find out I am all wet regading the entire issue, if that this the conclusion.

SHAY DORON IS AWESOME!!!

Probably my favorite player in WCBB, now that Wecker's gone. Maryland is going to be awesome this year, their starting five is going to be pretty unstoppable.

...and to talk to her, she's just the nicest person!

if Laura Harper is back to pre-injury form and the rest stay healthy, MD should be a much improved team this year.

If you really want to be technical... Sue Bird is half Jewish. She says she celebrates Christmas and Hannukah both. It's her dad's half of the family.

not odd at all.....it is more likely that one knows(for sure) who their mother is...

If Sue Bird's mother isn't Jewish and if Sue Bird has not converted, then Sue Bird isn't Jewish. There is no "half."
