Detroit will probably protect

Elaine Powell
Deanna Nolan
Swin Cash
Ruth Riley
Cheryl Ford
Kara Braxton

I would protect
Nolan, Cash, Riley, Ford, Braxton, and Chandi Jones.

Sac will probably protect
Ticha Penicheiro
Yolanda Griffith
DeMya Walker
Nicole Powell
Kara Lawson
Rebekkah Brunson

I would protect all 6 and hope and pray that Newton and Haynie are not taken Rolling Eyes

It all depends on whether Ticha P is a classified as a FA next year. Then I would add in Haynie and just hope for Newton to come back.

Sac and Detroit are both very deep and its a hard decision. I would say Whiz should saved Griffith, Walker, Powell, Penicheirp, Lawson and Brunson.

Washington protects: Johnson, Beard, Smith-Taylor, Milton, Melvin, and Miller.

I'm not sure about Erica Taylor. If she was eligible to be picked, I might save her over miller. I also don't know if any of these players are FA/RFA.

If Ticha is an unrestricted free agent, there is no need to protect her. My understanding is that UFAs cannot be drafted by Chicago.

UFAs don't need to be protected, but then again, the player might sign with a different team. It's a gamble. Idea Idea

Maybe Detroit needs to think about trading Chandi Jones. Think about it- If she is left unprotected, she will likely be taken by Chicago. If they do protect her, she will still be playing behind Nolan, receiving limited minutes. I think a trade would be good for Chandi. I think she could easily be a star, just not with Detroit.

Maybe they could trade her for a draft pick, or package her with their draft pick to move up to possibly get Pondexter.

If Maria is not committed for 2006, Phoenix might still protect her, as insurance for 2007.

Sandora? I'd protect her over Shereka and Angelina because we'd only be losing one of Shereka or Angelina and it's not like we have any other young promising power forwards.

I think they'll save either Ashely Robinson ,or Wright. But im 90% sure they'll save Ashley.

Heres my thoughts on the expansion draft future.

Charotte-
Saves: Staley, Feaster, Sam, Sutton-Brown, Smith, and McCarville
Best Player Available: Jia Perkins

**if Staley Retires, then they will probably save Darling over her. But I still think Charlotte might keep Sheri.

Connecticut-
Saves: Douglas, Dydek, Jones, McWilliams-Franklin, Sales, Whalen
Best Player Available: Brooke Wyckoff

Detroit-
Saves: Powell, Nolan, Cash, Ford, Riley, Braxton
Best Player Available: Stinson, Jones, or Farris

Houston-
Saves: Swoopes, Thompson, Arcain, Canty, Snow, Phillips
Best Player Available: Rasmussen or Hodges

Indiana-
Saves: Bevilaqua, Miller, Catchings, Schumacher, Hoffman, White
Best Player Available: Jackson or Streimikyte

L.A.-
Saves: Holdsclaw, Leslie, Mabika, Whitmore, Teasley, Thomas
Best Player Available: Hodges or Macchi

Minnesota-
Saves: Smith, Abrosimova, Hayden, Ohlde, Williams, Lovelace
Best Player Available: Lassiter, Mann, or Batteast

New York-
Saves: Baranova, Johnson, Hammon, Robinson, Wauters, Christon
Best Player Available: Frett or L. Moore
**of Crystal Retires then I think they will keep Loree Moore, but I'm not sure why. But I still think Patty likes her.

Phoenix-
Saves: Taurasi, Deforge, Taylor, Vodichkova, Stepanova, Robinson
Best Player Available: Jackson, Wright or Williams

Sacramento-
Saves: Griffith, Penicheiro, Walker, Lawson, Brunson, Powell
Best Player Available: Scott-Richardson or Newton

San Antonio-
Saves: Palmer-Daniel, Johnson, Thomas, Feenstra, Ferdinand, Wecker
Best Player Available: Campbell, Anderson, or McCray

Seattle-
Saves: Bird, Lennox, Castro- Marques, Jackson, Burse, Batkovic
Best Player Available: Thompson or Wright

Washington-
Saves: Milton-Jones, Melvin, Beard, C. Smith-Taylor, Johnson, Page
Best Player Available: Sanford or Jackson

Various past players that should/might get a shot:
-Tracy Reid
-Edwina Brown
-Merlakia Jones
-Kedra Holland-Corn
-Mfon Udoka
-Kara Wolters
-Shalonda Enis
-Rita Williams
-Cintia Dos Santos
-Camille Cooper
-Jae Cross
-Grace Daley
-Amaya Valdemoro
-Adrian Williams
-Tasha Pointer

each team must make 1 player available; UFA`s are not eligible

becky, `Nova, VJ, Frett, C-Rob, are UFA`S

NY protects Wauters, Christon, Moore, D-train, Carter and Thorn

makes Kraayeveld available

Not true. Melvin is under contract for next year. She signed a 3-year deal before last season at over $70,000 per year.

I still think its risky to not save some UFAs. I dont know why teams would rather save mediocore people over stars just cause some are free agents.

You have to sign them first! That's the issue. You can't protect them if they are UFA because by definition they can sign anywhere.

If a star is a UFA she cannot be drafted and her original team cannot protect her. She is not in the pool.

Some older players who are not UFA will be exposed, however, and promising 1-3 year players protected. The 1-3 year players with potential are high risk to be drafted. An aging star whose skills are diminishing might be drafted, but more likely to be traded to a contender for young players or draft picks.

Everyone has to think about salary cap, including Chicago. If Chicago gorges itself on a diet of older, higher salaried players in the expansion draft, it leaves itself with less maneuvering room in the spring to sign its college draft picks, FAs, RFAs and UFAs.

Oh, thats tricky about the UFA's. The whole thing is confusing. I'll just wait until November and hope for the best Laughing
