I hear San Antonio after she clears waivers. There is more to it I heard earlier but what do y'all think so far?

(I posted this in the Dream Waives thread but maybe some San Antonio fans and others wouldn't see it there so I gave it its own thread.)

Her best two seasons (not by much and save FG%) were down in SA.

Yeah Feenstra-Mattera (still Feenstra on wnba.com) was young and upcoming in San Antonio (acquired from Connecticut for Dydek IIRC), and then Detroit's Ruth Riley needed a change and San Antonio needed championship experience, so they swapped.

Now we will have Ruth and 6'8" Katie, and hopefully Ann too as said. Wink We seem to play a lot of halfcourt ball anyway and Katie would be an asset for that IMO.

If San Antonio signs her where does that leave Bernadette Ngoyisa. Will there still be room for her on the roster?

I'm hoping that doesn't affect her status at all. Smile

Let's look at the roster pre-Wauters.

PG: Hammon/Darling/Lawson-Wade
SG: Johnson/Crossley
SF: Buescher/Snell
PF: Young/Riley
C: Ngoyisa/Feenstra

That means they have to cut the following from their current roster: #14 pick, Atunrase, Berezhynska, Irvin, Ross. All of those are expendable although I would have liked to see Atunrase play a little more.

Anyways, that means that when Wauterrs returns, either Ngoyisa or Feenstra will have to go.

Nope...no room. They have to drop someone else. I think we have 13 on the training camp roster right now.

I have no idea if you can sign someone for part of a season to fill in for Ann or how that might work or if it's an option. Maybe someone else knows?

If possible they could have Bernadette Ngoyisa and Katie Feenstra play and waive one till Ann Wauters returns, unless someone else dramatically under performs and they decided to waive them instead. I think those two should do well in the post till Ann Wauters returns though.

Well Ngoyisa was supposed to fill in until Ann arrived, nonguaranteed, but I have heard nothing more. Once again, I can't count Laughing , darn would like to keep them both.

I don't know about the draft pick, guess will wait and see. Laughing

Don't mind that as long as she surfs that wave to SA. Laughing

The thing is, San Antonio has a system; Atlanta was a mess. All she needs to do in San Antonio is be Ruth Riley-light. Set screens, play some defence, and if you can avoid taking those god-awful 20-foot outside shots Riley takes, even better. Atlanta never had a system or a defined role for her to fill in it.

And lets face it, she can't be any more of a waste of space than Sandora Irvin.

LOL - good one. Of course, she would feel very at home in SA, with born-again Becky and Crossley and Ruth ...

LOL, She's just a different type of wasted space.

She's four inches taller and much heavier. In that sense, she's more of a wasted space.

Oddly enough, reading this set of quotes with Caune's avatar just below I got an image of Becky pants-ing Feenstra.

Considering their #14 will likely be better than Lawson-Wade in some many ways, I'd prefer to see her off the team.

PG: Hammon/Darling
SG: Johnson/Crossley
SF: Buescher/Snell
PF: Young/draft pick
C: Riley/Feenstra/Ngoysisa

sadly, either Ngoysisa or their draft pick gets waived once Wauters arrives.

I thought there were times in Detroit where she looked a whole lot better than the more 'talented' and 'versatile' Braxton.

Not my Katie! I'm just glad she gets to be on a roster (I hope). Yeah, she might not boast the best record, but I love watching her play.
