Each year at the ACC Tournament, the Conference honors one former player from each school as an ACC "Legend." The former players are introduced on the court as a highlight tape is shown on the Jumbotron, and a short bio is read. Yesterday, Val Ackerman was honored as the Virginia player. But when details of her career were announced, her presidency of the WNBA was NOT EVEN MENTIONED. It was such an absurd, glaring omission that folks all around me could not stop talking about it.

Hello ACC..... Shocked

When college womens basketball cant even mention the W then the W is even in bigger trouble than I thought.

Val Ackerman. Hopewell Valley legend. She played HS ball one town over from me. She scored 1,755 points, was possibly the best field hockey player the school ever had and was valedictorian. They probably didn't mention that either. Who cares? It has nothing to do with the ACC. Neither does the W.

For clarification's sake: did they bring up anything she did beyond Virginia, or did they just keep it to her college days? I can understand just talking about her impact on the ACC as a collegiate player, but if they skipped right from Charlottesville to her job with USA Basketball, then I'd be as pissed as you are.

That's what I was thinking, if it was a short bio and they only mentioned what she did while at Virginia then its probably not an oversight, but if they talked about what she did after she left Virginia then it would be different.

Yes they did. They said she's president of USA Basketball. Trust me, in the context of the presentation, the omission of her WNBA accomplishments was stupid and glaring. Trudi Lacey was sitting behind one of my friends and pretty much went nuts over this.
