Lilly feels this league has a much better chance for survival.

"I think the WUSA had a lot of positives, but I think the one negative was the budget and the finance side," Lilly said. "So hopefully, the WPS will take a lot of the great things that the WUSA had, which was the game itself, the athletes and promote that. And this time, we're going to be starting on a smaller scale. They've learned some lessons and the pay scale for the players is starting off a little lower than it was with the WUSA, but we can grow and I think that's great.
