There is always Candace! Cool

I am thinking there might be other 'early' retirements because of the 11 man roster.....

Will be interesting to see what LLL has to say tomorrow during the announcement. Thanks for the post!

Well if she makes the announcement kudos to her for doing it the right way. It's sad when they retire without the farewell season.

Maybe LL wants to have a second child, and is only willing to wait so long (and doesn't see coming back after #2). Just thinking out loud.

If it is.

Kudos to Lisa. I really really respect the woman after last season.

She's still one of the best players in the league, but she knows it's time to move on.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I'm going to miss her. Looks like I'll never see my favorite basketball player play basketball in person.

Without Candace at full strength for a whole season she figures maybe the title is out of reach.

Good for Lisa to realize when it's time to move on. I'll miss seeing her play beyond this season, though. As I posted on another thread, LA's "window" is closing at an alarming rate, and I'm sure she'll want to continue to grow her family (like TSW suggested).

It's looking more and more like my final season following the league is coming up soon.

Well, perhaps the 2009 Season will be Lisa's "Farewell Tour", just like it was for Dawn Staley's "Farewell Tour" in 2006.

Yeah it was nice to be there for Dawn's. Smile

Sad to see her go, but I'm glad she's making this decision. Gotta be there for the kid. I wish her the best.

I think that's how players should do it. Go out while fans can still remember your greatness.

I was wondering why the Sparks went after Kara Braxton earlier and traded for Vanessa Hayden. Now it makes sense. Give someone a year to play behind Leslie and hopefully the gamble (on Hayden) will pay off?

Unless she is already with child, I suspect she will be announcing this will be her last season. I can't believe that she would leave without one more go round. To tell the truth, I figured she'd be duking it out to be on the '12 Olympic team.

If it is, that explains why LA felt they could offer TT a multi-year contract, like CB mentioned- LL+CP3+DMJ+TT would have been too much, but any three of those would work- and with Parker out for part of this year, and no Leslie the next, that brings them down to three out of four.

So, I guess it will be official tomorrow.

At first when I read the thread title I was surprised, but I'm really not because I had a feeling if the Sparks won the title she would have retired at the end of last season. She has already retired from the USA National Team and has talked about her Sparks career coming to an end. I'm glad I will get to see one season with Lisa Leslie, Tina Thompson, DeLisha Milton-Jones and Candace Parker on the same team. I hope the four players can help mold Vanessa Hayden into the great player in the middle the Sparks need.
