The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team will open the 2005-06 season by participating in the Preseason Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT).

Doesn't look like anyone else in the tournament should be able to touch them. New Mexico looks to be down and Oklahoma is at least a year away with the twins.

Were they trying to handicap UConn by having them start a day later? seems odd that their game would be the only one on the second day.

I agree that UConn winning the pre WNIT (while it's never a sure thing) may not be as much a indicator for the success/failure of their season as it would be if they don't win it.

I hope we get past BC, which I won't guarantee...as they know us very well, and you saw what happened last season. If we do though and face Oklahoma, the Paris twins will eat us for lunch. This Husky team better be ready to run run run because any team with a good post game is going to smoke us. This is why BC worries me, as they always have good fundamental guards and Ress is very very good.

Personally, I am most intrigued by the potential matchup of Cal (Joanne Boyle's current program) versus Richmond (Boyle's former program).
