Not taking anything away from Crystal Kelly, but as a rookie I honestly don't think she would have gotten minutes playing behind Tina Thompson, Sancho Lyttle, Michelle Snow and Mistie Williams. Everyone may think Houston made a mistake or was stupid, but if she was a player who came off the bench who played in 13 games, scored 2.3 points in 6.9 minutes there wouldn't be many people who think as highly of her. Now those are just numbers I made up, but she could have very well had numbers similiar to that had she played for the Comets and not the Monarchs.

Exactly. The Monarchs lucked up big time with Kelly. We're glad to have her, but she didn't meet expectations--she exceeded them. We'll see how good she really is next year.

If (big IF) DeMya comes back healthy and ready to contribute and we pick up a big in the draft, I can see Kelly being placed in more of an insurance role--especially given the late-onset progression of Laura Harper (a rebounding machine, which is what this team really needs).

yep, if DeMya comes back healthy having her and Laura Harper, if Laura continues to progress as she has been, will be big for the Monarchs.

I wonder how Crystal Kelly will be able to handle that situation, if it does arise/

I'm thinking:

-Assuming AWS doesn't re-sign
-Assuming the Monarchs go big in 2009

Brunson (28 ), Walker (25), Harper (17), Kelly/1st rounder (10)

This is why I was pissed about Kelly not winning a spot on the All-Rookie team. She may never get the opportunity to have a season like that again.

Tamera Young and Extrugasa have decided to part ways. The Spanish Club, currently 2-8 in the league, has come to the conclusion that Young wasn't performing up to expectations. Saturday will probably be her final game with the club.

Cause they didn't play well in FIBA Eurocup games, coach said.
