Unlike the men's basketball team, which took a charter from the U.S., the women flew commercial. Not the easiest way to get some rest, especially for the likes of 6-foot-5 Sylvia Fowles or 6-4 Candace Parker.

How do they (USA Basketball, whoever) justify this? It astonishes me.

That astonishes me as well. I understand the finances behind WNBA teams not having charter flights, but the USA? Shocked

Who ponies up for the men's charter? The NBA or the USOC?? I would think it's the NBA but someone should get all the athletes chartered....

Well, I suppose the archery team isn't chartered either. Wink

But really, some airline or airplane company is missing a big promotional opportunity.

So I'm wondering if a photo of the team or a story can be written without somehow the sight or mention of Lisa's baby. I mean where's Tina's kid?

That is a little bit suspect. If I remember correctly last time in Greece didn't both teams stayed separate from the rest of the athletes. I think they stayed on some type of ship. That's disappointing. I believe last time the NBA paid for both teams.

If the archery team has a bunch of people over 6'5, then sure.... Laughing

I can't imagine a 13-hr flight sitting in coach and I'm only 5'4!!!! If I were over 6 feet tall the person in front of me would have my legs on their lap.

It's team bonding through hardship. Though I'm not sure that they weren't able to upgrade to 1st class on their own dime (as they can in the WNBA), perhaps we can look at it as equivalent to the Aussie boot camp for building unity. Wink

They fly business class with the option to upgrade to 1st class if they want to pay.

Heck they could have gotten together and paid for it themselves. Each one IS a millionaire, ya know.

Generally, little Dyllan is in sight of his granny and not shoved into the cameras by his Mom. Who, I might add, is a much more private person than little Lauren Lockwood's mama.

Which I admire GREATLY; I don't think it is so smart to broadcast your child so much; gods know there are a lot of creeps out in this world that do nothing but molest or kidnap children.
