I figured this post should go here, because it didn't strictly belong in WNBA or WCBB, and it is a bit "off topic".

Are there are any books about women's basketball that you find particularly interesting or illuminating? They can be historical or biographical or fiction, they can be about HS basketball or college or the WNBA (or defunct leagues), they can be about US basketball or basketball overseas, they can be written as introductory books or as books for experts.

Are there any books that just have to be added to someone's personal women's basketball library?

I have several, but especially given this is an Olympic Year, I'm re-reading for about the 8th time, Venus to the Hoop. It is really well written and full of interesting facts and stories.

I also like A Century of Women's Basketball for history. For an interesting documentary-type read, try "Winning Sounds Like This" which is a book about the Galluadet basketball team.

There are lots of others.

Here's a listing we've put together...

If do chose to purchase any books, it would be great if you went through the Amazon link -- it sends Kim a couple of pennies for all the hours she puts in...

you gotta know about the abl, and its relationship to the wnba. i can't say if it's the best book out there, but i enjoyed "playing in a new league" by sara gogol.
