| and people thought the report on off-court was wrong? Didn't the author say this was a problem at this time?

I don't recall anyone questioning that particular assertion in the discussion about that story. In fact, those of us who read regularly at HRR have been kept informed of the progress - or, more accurately, lack thereof - of the Comets' attempts to come to terms on radio and TV deals for months, so it was hardly news at the time. Kris may not toot his own horn, but he's been on top of this all along.

In the last day I heard that Mr. Koch was trying to get radio coverage but did not want to pay for it. I did not hear about tv in Houston. Rumor has it that the league office is very upset with Mr. Koch's handling of the Comets. If things don't change pretty quickly, I would not be surprised if the league stepped in and took over the Comets for the remainder of this season. Note there was significant league involvement with the Comets day to day operation last year. I expect the Comets will have new ownership by next year or be contracted out of existance. I don't know the particulars but it seems the league office would rather contract one year and expand the next rather than just moving a franchise to another city. My guess is the league comes out significantly ahead financially by the contract/expand method. Otherwise it makes no sense!
Seattle is also having trouble getting a television deal hammered out but is still negotiating. My guess is when the same group owned the men's & women's teams, the women were a throw-in. Now I suspect that tv stations in both cities (Houston & Seattle) want to be paid to put the women's games on.

The Storm games are on the radio station, and there are Storm games on TV, so what problem are you talking about?

I always saw Koch as more or less an interim owner. I expect Donna O has already been at work identifying the next owner in Houston.
I don't see The Comets being contracted if there's a way to avoid it. Too much league history there._________________ If you want a revolution, the only solution's evolve

| I am referring to the package of "locally televised games" that the league insists each franchise has. Yes, the Storm has games on national tv (ESPN2 on Tuesday for one) and on other franchises' feeds but no local package as of this weekend. As you know, many (not all in every case) of these local games are shown out of market on NBA TV and on the WNBA internet site.

| At the fan event on Sunday the owners reportedly said that we (Seattle) should hear something this week about a local TV deal, that they were in final negotiations (I say reportedly because they were talking to a group of fans at the time that I was not in).
