I'll give her 13. Anne Donovan was allowed to go 1-10 over the first 11 games.

14

The mini-road trip to Washington and Houston at the end of June/beginning of July will be the end if they don't improve.

Well, I hate to see anyone get fired, but the fact is that her offensive system and personnel decisions have backfired on her. I just don't know how long Bob Johnson can continue to see this team consistently score in the low 50s or 60s.(in some cases 40s) In today's Wnba, with the talent ever-increasing and the run-and-gun philosophies, you can't continue to rely on defense to win all the time. Six or seven years ago, maybe, but not now.In my opinion, a change will have to be made eventually.

Fired as GM, coach, or both? Would she fire herself?

I'm going to conditionally pick June 1st; my condition is that should attendance drop significantly below the 9k they drew yesterday after the next two home games, she will be gone immediately IMO.

Fired as coach.

As for firing herself, well there are higher powers. I did put "resignation" in there.

July 15...so that's 17 games. They're gonna get destroyed by LA and Phoenix, and then it'll be all over.

hmmmm. i'm with your thinking (that the phoenix game would be it), but i'm counting 16 games. that's regular-season game.

I'm still getting 17...Mystics, Fever, Mercury, Sparks, Stars, Lynx, Shock, Storm, Fever, Stars, Liberty, Mystics, Mystics, Comets, Lynx, Sparks, Mercury.

Whichever it is, We have the date right. I think we're talking games into the season and not games from this point...am I right, Keegan?

no, jimmyk, you're right, it's 17 games. i was looking at the sting sked, and it had that bar under the first game, which i forgot to count.

so i'm going with you - 17 games it is.

I only knew that quick (and could name the teams in order) because I have their really cool printable schedule up on the wall next to my computer monitor. Seattle on the left side, Charlotte on the right side.

I'm so geographically correct on these things sometimes that it scares me.

I say 7 games.

They'll be 1-6 and for the season to be salvaged, Trudi will be done.

I've been wondering how long this guy will last:

...perhaps winning will stave off a mutiny by Leslie & co.

Yeah, I don't know about this "Dr Evil" in LA

If they start losing games it'll be a miserable place.

I guess I'll say she won't get the axe throughout the entire season. For reasons, eh, two: The front office will give her the chance to coach the entire season and then make a coaching decision and two, since it is a pool, mine would be the only name in that slot in the pool chart. Wink

It would be cool if the league would let Dawn be Player/Coach.

And here I was thinking (before the season) Brian Winters would be the first to get the ax.

I was thinking the same thing and then I saw his name mentioned by a couple of the "experts" as a potential coach of the year and changed my thought to...WTF???????

I still think Winters will go first.

This reminds me of thread posted last year at this time on ESPN. Went something like this.

Will the Sun win a game this year? Who did that one? lol!

Phoenix is headed to Charlotte - the Mercury won't lose three in a row...
