I see the 'lowering expectations' media campaign is in full swing. |

"That's what I comfort myself with at night when I stare at the ceiling," Donovan said of knowing she is not the only one with a depleted roster. |
Part of this could be Anne dusting off the returning champion chapter in her coachspeak manual. The 'we're humble as pie' chapter has convenient suggestions to not only help the coach guard against one of one of her biggest fears- complacency- but how to pump the opponents heads full of air. She knows that the returning champs are being dissed and the Sparks have already been anointed paper champions. She'll use it to her advantage.

What amazes me is that she still thinks Frierson can play...

Frierson doesn't have skills?

Frierson played all of two or three games last year, so we don't yet know whether or not she has skills.

And that's because you've had access to Frierson and are as capable of assessing talent as Donovan is, correct?

It was painful to watch Chelle Thompson "help" Trina during the lay-up line drills last year, having to explain to her what to do and where she should be.
Wasn't one of the games Frierson got to play in the 25-point drumming of the Storm by, of all teams last season, the Houston Comets?
Sass has it right...we don't yet know what she can do on the court.

Yeah, and Donovan played that girl Lauren Jackson in that drumming [sic] at Houston. Since they were beaten so soundly, Jackson must really suck, too. I hear Betty Lennox, Sue Bird and Kamila Vodichkova also played. A team filled with inferior players who lost by 25 at Houston like that might as well give up. A team like that's bound to go nowhere - and that's before you count their coach, who clearly doesn't know much about assessing talent.
At a certain point in that game, Donovan sat her starters and cleared the bench. So what's your point?
