Start out with the most elemental WNBA song there is: "WNBA" by Soulhat, off Experiment on a Flat Planet. Ah, the tragedy of losing one's girlfriend to Sacramento. I suspect Storm fans can relate.
A lot of really GOOD WNBA stuff isn't easy to track down. I don't think any of the team rally songs are available legally. *is pretending not to have the Shock, Fever, and Liberty songs* *is also pretending not to have downloaded an extended version of the NBA on NBC theme and the CBS NCAA theme*
From a Liberty fan: "Strike It Up", by Black Box. It's the one song that makes me think of the Garden. When I hear it, I'm immediately in my seat seeing the team on Gardenvision just before they take the court.
Though I refuse to waste iPod space on it, I would also put "Rush" on there._________________ Proud member of the "People for the Correct Spelling of Kayla Pedersen" movement.

| I remember the "lose my breath song" that Phoenix used in it's little commercial...And then there is the song "ladylike" by storm Large that I used in my pseudo WNBA ad, that IMO is about the best song to represent the women in this league..I remember Storm fans saying they used the Destiny Child song "Survivor" as well.

I feel the urge to share my playlist now.
First, thematic, going from the macrocosmic and steadily narrowing focus. I have the basketball freestyle beat from that kick-ass Nike commercial, followed by Kurtis Blow's "Basketball", the NCAA theme from CBS, and the theme from the NBA on NBC, just to set the tone for basketball. Then it's stuff that makes me think of the WNBA: the Veronicas' "Revolution" and Soulhat's "WNBA". Then it's specific teams: "Thunderstruck" for the Storm, O-Scott and Charlotte Smith's "Fever Believer", "It's Personal" from the Shock site, "Statue of Liberty" by Boards of Canada, and of course, "Gotta Get Up".
The next bits are very Liberty oriented- it's music that the Garden plays or has played for Liberty games: "Feel It", by possibly the Temperer, "Strike It Up" by Black Box, "Ready to Go" by Republica, "My Time" by Crystal Waters, and "I Love New York" by Madonna. Then there are the Cheesy Musical Hooks. Oh, Goddess, are there the Cheesy Musical Hooks. "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". "Boogie Shoes". "Sister Christian". And so forth. I doubt you'll have any need of those, although you might enjoy one song I use as a CMH that isn't official, "Jet City Woman" by Queensryche (I use it for Cat Kraayeveld).
Then there's the game-ending music: "Final Countdown" by Europa, Kool and the Gang's "Celebrate", "Respect" by Aretha, "Song 2" by Blur (the "woo-hoo!" song), and "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge._________________ Proud member of the "People for the Correct Spelling of Kayla Pedersen" movement.

The Houston Comets used the song 'Go' by Jupiter Rising on their commercial this season. It was cool.
Also, 'One Girl Revolution' by Superchick._________________ JENNASMITH13.com

Whenever I was there, it was usually "Native New Yorker".
Can't believe you didn't mention Joan Jett's career low point: that God awful song "Unfinished Business". The only team song I can think of that could be worse was this year's Mets' theme song.

The Sun two years ago used Halftime by Ying Yang Twins, and this past season used Rihanna's SOS
Don't forget Start Me Up by the Stones, Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses, Hell's Bells by AC/DC, and R U Ready for This are start the half staples.
Also Cotton Eyed Joe is played everywhere, Basketball by Lil Bow Wow is a contemporary remake of Kurtis Blow's song Queenie mentioned, Get Busy by Sean Paul was all over the place, You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC is a biggie, and of course, although keep in mind royalties go to a child pornography scum, Rock & Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter. |

| There was a version of Destiny's Child's "Jumpin' Jumpin'" used in ads for the 2000 All Star game, reworked to "It's game time and the joint is jumpin' jumpin'". Dunno if it was done specifically for the W or even if it was actually DC4 doing it.

"We Will Rock You" I didn't include if only because the Garden insists on using that Cheers scene.
"Unfinished Business" hasn't turned up on any of the illegal P2Ps I use, so I doubt it's floating around on the Internet.
I forgot about "Native New Yorker"- yes, that Odyssey track is on my Liberty playlist, although I'm evil and identify it with Bethany.
Arena music tends to change from year to year, since it often reflects the charts; what I tried to do was use stuff that was a constant. I can't remember a time when "Strike It Up" wasn't the cue for the Liberty to take the floor, and "Final Countdown" is a sports staple.
For Cheesy Violation Hooks, look up various songs with Jump in the title, and "Walk This Way"; I know the Garden uses the latter for some traveling calls._________________ Proud member of the "People for the Correct Spelling of Kayla Pedersen" movement.

AND, if you have Divas on the Court, you can get the fabulous call of "The Shot."
I've often tacked it on the end of mix-tapes/cds for friends... still give me the chills....._________________ "When I first got up here, one student said basketball was 'a man’s game.' Ye gods, woman, I've been looking for that song for years! E-mail me! (Do you still have my address from when I asked you about those lyrics?)
And to the original topic... yes, Divas of the Court is awesome, or at least the sampler is; it's where I got "Gotta Get Up", and I do have The Shot on the playlist from the sampler. "SHE PUT IT IN! Because I'm a Mystics' fan -- or maybe despite of it, I'm never quite sure -- my basketball playlist includes Tubthumping by Chumbawamba for the "I get knocked down, but I get up again" part.
Has anyone already mentioned This One's For the Girls by Martina McBride or Golden Street Prelude and One Shining Moment by David Barrett?
Also -- and you have to have a quirky sense of humor to get this song, there's She Likes Basketball by Jerry Orbach. It's a Broadways tune song, if you haven't heard of it, but the lyrics are cute.

I made a "Mercury Madness" CD for those tough off-season days. It consists of music both played at Mercury games and ones that make me either think of the Merc or feel like I'm at a game:
"Can You Feel It" - Michael Jackson
"Let's Get It Started" - Black Eyed Peas
"Loose My Breath" - Destiny's Child
"Yeah!" - Usher
"Reach" - Gloria Estefan (theme song from the '96 Olympics)
"Welcome to the Jungle" - Guns n Roses
"The Way You Move" - Outkast
"Hey Ya" - Outkast
"Just Lose It" - Eminem
"All Star" - Smashmouth
"Rock n Roll Part 2" - Gary Glitter
"Hot Fun in the Summertime" - Sly and the Family Stone
I even had it in my car and played it in my office the Valentine's Day that Mercury mascot Scorch came to my office and had fun w/ my staff. I won a charity auction for it. People were impressed at my total W geekage.

| How about Just The Girl by Click Five. I think they used that as the WNBA campaign in 2005. Also the 2 games I went to last year, I heard Ridin by Chamillionaire.
