Well, he may not have been honest, but I am. FYI, he was very funny, very engaging. I was surprised to like him as much as I did. My brother was thrilled to meet him, and I got a great thankyou gift for my coworker covering my calls, who is a baseball fanatic.

Betting or not, he was a great player.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I met Loree Moore on a flight back to New York two weeks ago. It was one of those "Am I seeing things or is that really her?" moments. I had a lovely and brief conversation about our respective vacations, but of course I knew better than to ask for an autograph or a picture. I totally wanted to, but I knew it would be inappropriate for me to ask that of her in such a setting. I think fans just need to be mindful of the settings they're in when they meet players. Don't mind me...
