I love Newton, every team can use a player like her.

Chelsea is my choice for draft sleeper, but she's too much like C-Rob on the defensive end and nothing like C-Rob on the offensive end. But yes, she'd be a nice backup, she's just not a priority.

Can she stay healthy?

Phoenix and Seattle both need perimeter defensive stoppers. Hopefully they give Ms Newton a good look (I'm thinking Phoenix second round).

I kinda wanted Phoenix to take Erica Smith-Taylor in the second round. You know, just in case some of our guards disappear.

I wouldn't mind Chelsea on the Mercury. One of the few people associated with Rutgers that I truly respect & like.

If not Chelsea in the second round, I don't see what's that bad about Ashley Battle in the third round. I know she doesn't have a good perimeter shot, and that she can be spazzy with the ball, but she is a good perimeter defensive player who brings energy off the bench. SMP doesn't agree with me, though Crying or Very sad .

Question: Would Ashley Earley in the third round work for the Mercury? I know she's an undersized player, but she's a hard worker, and I think she could stick somewhere.

I like Erica Taylor... but we have a lot of shooters already. She could qualify under "too good to pass up" though.

Ashley Earley is a hard worker but I don't see much point in taking her. We have a bazillion power forwards already and small forward is pretty much set as well.

My draft preferences:

1st round - Post (NO WECKER/MELVIN TRADE)
2nd/3rd round - Defensive stopper and another big

Very true.

So:

1st round~Irvin or McCarville (Braxton *very* long-shot)
2nd round~Newton
3rd round~?

For 3rd round, I was thinking maybe Andrea Bills. She's big but not entirely lacking in speed and athleticism. Training camp fodder but good for pushing Ashley and Lindsay around in camp (they need some toughening up).
