He's transitional for sure... but not (I think) because of policy or politics... I think they needed a short term guy till they can figure out who the next Elvis is going to be.

No way to follow JP so why even try to catch lightning in a bottle twice in a row? Give it a little time. Had they picked a stiff who was 58 or something they'd be stuck with him right through till the entire JP2 thing would be a distant memory and the Catholic church would be right back where it was before JP. This way Pope Benny is in and out in a few years tops... the JP magic will still be in the air... they get a little time to figure which one of them can pretend to be a charismatic guy and then let him take it from there.
