I don't really have a team, but I'll try and balance the scoring for them:
Major Contributors
Young- 13ppg, 7 rpg
Wecker-8 ppg, 4 rpg
Ely-6 ppg, 3 rpg
Zolman-5 ppg
Feenstra-11 ppg
V. Johnson-12 ppg
S. Johnson-9 ppg
Anderson-7 ppg
Ivanyi-2 ppg
Others-5 ppg
Total-78ppg......that would be nice

If the Silver Stars score 78 PPG, not counting LaToya Thomas, I'll eat my shoe.

If Westhead's system works..(Ideally) (This is who I'm assuming makes the team...)

Kelly Miller -6
Cappie Pondexter-8
Belinda Snell-10
Ann Strother -6
Diana Taurasi -18
Penny Taylor -15
Angelina Williams-4
Shereka Wright -2

Kristen Rasmussen -3
Kamila Vodichkova-8
Gwen Jackson-5
Sandora Irvin -8

All right, that's 93 points...maybe I'm the ultimate optimist..but I think every player is capable of averaging that amount of points I've given them..Paul's system is run and gun...and geared towards offense..I think this is what Paul wants..so hopefully he'll get it..

Keep in mind the shot clock will be short. Shorter shot clock=more possessions. That will definetly increase scoring.

As for your Phoenix estimation, I can't see Snell averaging more then Vodi and Irvin.

Paul likes Snell from what I've heard..and she's a scorer..I think she'll be first one off the bench..and used for quick offense...from what I've heard about her, and from what I've seen..I think she is capable of scoring 10 a game, even coming off the bench...and I think she'll get more minutes, because Paul is going to have to rest Taurasi Cappie and Penny some, because of the style of his game..Irvin, who knows what she is going to do, I'm hoping she'll average 8, but we'll have to see what she does. Vodi, I think this offense works the worst for her, and she's getting older, so I don't know how she's going to react to this system..

We used the new rules in the Pro-Am for the first time last week at the Nationals and went with the 24 second clock and the 10 minute quarters.

We also had an 8 second backcourt since while we had a couple of wannabe W refs, most of the refs were D-League and NBA.

The scores were mostly in the 80's and 90's with about 10 more possessions per game and a couple of games in the 100's. The games flowed pretty well besides the whistle happy NBA hopeful refs.

This was with mostly D-1 and pro experienced players. And the defense was on par with the W...physical.

I was skeptical at first as to how the new rules would change the game...but so far I like the results...a lot.

I was skeptical at first too when they did it down here a few years ago.
I wondered if 24 second possessions meant that the scoring would increse, or whether every possession being more rushed would result in too many bad shots being jacked up.
Thankfully the teams adjusted pretty easily and the result was the right one. Shooting percentages basically didn't change.

Snell to average more points then Cappie. I know she'll be the PG, but come on. Cappie will average double figures.

Jackson- 15 ppg
Lovelace-Tolbert - 12 ppg
Udoka- 9 ppg
Dales- 8 ppg
Perkins- 8 ppg
Ngoyisa- 7 ppg
Robinson- 6 ppg
Dupree- 5 ppg
Newton- 5 ppg
Wyckoff- 5 ppg
Powell-2 ppg
Zara- 2 ppg

Hmm. 84 points per game. Seems like a lot but I think most of these could happen. I'm expecting big things from DJ, SLT and Fon.

Comets:

T. Thompson-23ppg
S. Swoopes.-18ppg
D. Canty-8ppg
D. Staley-5ppg
M. Snow-15ppg
T. Dixon-6.5ppg
T. Phillips-5ppg
L. Shimek-2.5ppg
R. Hodges-3ppg

Thats who will score, the rest of the roster will combine for about 2-3 points. Thiis is an average of 86pts a game, but not all players compete in every game and this is also an average. I am thinking the Comets will score anywhere from 75-80 points a night.

I'll do the Fever first.

Cathings:18ppg
DeForge:14ppg
Whitmore:12ppg
White:10ppg
Hoffman:7ppg
Scott:6ppg
T.Bev:5ppg

That's where I think most of the scoring will come from.

Jackson - 21
Lennox - 12
Bird - 11
Burse - 9
Castro Marques - 8
Palmer-Daniel - 7
Wright - 6
Turner - 6
Johnson - 3

Everyone Else - 6
That's 89 points, which is do-able, but not realistic.

Snell's a point guard?

Only two teams in the league averaged more than 70 points per game last year (Seattle and Connecticut) and while I think scoring will go up due to increased possessions, I think most predictions in this thread are overly optimistic.

I honestly cant see Schu scoring more than Farris. Keep in mind that Farris has been stuck behind the best post rotation in the league for a good two years now. When she has played, she's been impressive. I'd switch the two. Kelly averagine 6 and Barb averaging 8.

I too, believe that the predictions are very much inflated. For example:
Code:
[u]Team      Prediction 2006     2005 actual   % increase[/u]
Stars        78 ppg                 63 ppg             25%
Pho           93 ppg                69.4 ppg          35%
Comets     86 ppg                67.9 ppg           26%
Sea           89 ppg               73.5 ppg           21%
Conn         75 ppg               72.8 ppg            3%
Wash         74 ppg               66.6 ppg           11%

Few possessions lasted over 24 seconds last year. Extra possession will exist but will not be that many. There will not be a 20+% increase in scoring. How about guessing the increase for the whole year? I'll guess 6% (partially due to the increase in talent).

I'm predicting a breakdown in the Lib's scoring.... sigh.

Wait, no, I'm Sarcastically Optimistic this season!!! Hmmm... that means with everyone focusing their attention on our one returing starter, I'm sure ALL our new members of the starting 5 will step up their game and become go number one with a bullet singing that nylon song. I'm going to bookmark the Billboard charts... but wait, should it be the blues or the hip hop rankings?

No Way. Try:
Sales 16
Douglas 12
Whalen 12
Dydek 8
Jones 12
Taj 14
Phillips 8
Carey 4
Payne 4
Summerton 2
Mahoney 4

Total: 96

Faster shot clock = more possessions and the Sun love to run and gun.
