Who speaks Polish? Translate please.

I heard about this on Tangela Smith's board.

Supposedly she beat the HAY-ULL out of some player and put her in the hospital.

Sounds as if Nolan and Powell need to come home for the safety of others.

I'd like to hear the story translated before I pass any judgement ...

The guy who posted this on Tan's site made it sound like Elaine just brutally beat this woman into the hospital.
Supposedly... possible broken jaw and vision affected... police investigation...

I think Elaine is in a LOT of trouble.

Just read that thread. If that was an accurate description, assault/battery charges could be pending.

Oh my! What on earth is going on with these Shock players? Thanks for posting the account of alleged attack, I agree with Keegan, it looks like assault and battery charges may be brought against Powell. Here's hoping that the poor player she attacked will not have been injured too badly. What a shame.

fearless posted the story on the BSPN board. He explained it pretty well. I doubt Elaine will play in Poland again.
One thing I really appreciate about fearless is that he (she?) explained that Powell's mother passed away recently and that this has been a hard time for her..

Are there morals / behavioral clauses in the standard WNBA contract? If she's able to extricate herself from the legal issues in Poland, could she face difficulty rejoining the Shock?

I doubt it will be a problem at home.
She may just be banned from attending a Pistons/Pacers game.

Laughing

So WNBA players can't ride on a motorcycle without voiding their contracts, but they can beat the living shit out of Eastern Europeans. Sounds fair.

It's my understanding that since Jayson Williams had that horrible crippling accident a couple of years ago that there is a clause in both M and W contracts against even going so far as to smell a Vespa's exhaust. I don't know for sure, but it's likely that there are several other "risky behavior" clauses in the standard WNBA contract. It's the norm in pro sports.

So probably no skydiving, rappelling down Devils Tower (or Ayers Rock), sleeping with Vin Diesel - you know, the regular stuff.

So much for the WNBA players being better role models than the men Sad

Guess I should wait for more accounts of the incident before I start making judgements, but from Fearless's seemingly objective post it doesn't sound pretty.

Here's a link to a recent Elaine Powell thread in the FPKK Lotos Gydnia forum. These are in Polish, there is nothing posted on the general board (English).

http://www.basketmania.pl/viewtopic.php?t=3033&highlight=elaine+powell

I can't read the nuances of what these people are saying using a machine translator. But the posts confirm there was an incident and that Elaine is facing disciplinary action.

There are two points worth repeating that the original poster 'fffearless' made in his post on the ESPN board.

1) Elaine's mom passed away recently
2) It was a 2 min situation and Elaine fouled the player on a layup. The player Elaine fouled, who was on the floor, responded by kicking Elaine in the ankle.

That can pretty much be construed as going after someone's career as payback for the official missing the call. Not to justify for Elaine, just to point out there was provocation.

We will have to test this clause this summer by maybe offering rides on Mranderso's new Harley...no women can resist the charms of "the international man of mystery" aka Mranderso Wink

A left hook? that's it? AFTER the girl kicks her in the ankle, which as blue pointed out could cause a career ading injury.
I'd say they're even-steven.
