I really wish this game had been televised. Maryland pulls a big win. Up next a rematch with Duke who stomped them in the first game. A Maryland win against the Dukies............#1

stop that.

it was reported that larkins was injured at the buzzer. probably by laurie harper. i saw her playing versus sardin, she was using her elbows to whack anyone else around her.

Probably was ordered to do that.

OK, that's your third different post on this subject in three different folders. You don't know that LAURA Harper injured Larkins and you sure as hell don't know that she was ordered to do anything.
What's your problem? Did she kick your/your kid's ass in a game?

For what it's worth:

Link here

Quote:
With North Carolina leading 83-80 in the final seconds of regulation, Shay Doron missed a straightaway 3-pointer that North Carolina's Erlana Larkins appeared to rebound. But Larkins fell forward along the baseline and the ball went bouncing back inbounds.

Newman raced to the ball several feet beyond the arc on the right side and hurled a shot that swished through the net as the horn sounded. North Carolina players watched in stunned silence while Larkins was down on the sideline with leg cramps that kept her out in overtime.

Yes, Brenda teaches her players to maim the other team so that they can win. Having watched the highlights, Harper must have gone into invsibile mode so that Larkins wouldn't see her when she "clubbed" her.

GREAT win for the Terps. yeeeeeeee Very Happy

I really hope Alex is ok, she's in my prayers... anyone know how serious it was? Sad

Quote:
Backup point guard Alex Miller was carried off the court on a stretcher after suffering an apparent neck injury during a collision under the basket in the second half.

All I know is that Alex Miller's at the hospital right now. My guess is that it's indeed serious.

Good thing she's okay. You can never be too sure how neck/spinal injuries will turn out.

If all is well, she'll be on the court on Sunday.

Here's today's Wash Post story. Interestingly, they happened to have sent a reporter, Kathy Orton, to this game; she'd also done a curtain raiser in yesterday's paper about the upcoming game (almost unheard of for the Post). Good timing!

From the Wash Times AP story:

"But the Terps -- whose only losses came against Tennessee and Duke -- improved to 4-0 in overtime with a balanced effort in the extra period. Langhorne also had five points in the extra period, while Kristi Toliver hit a pair of free throws with 17.2 seconds left to make it a three-point game.

"That's why you play a tough nonconference schedule," Frese said. "The challenge for us is to continue to get better. I love where this team is at and the confidence we're playing with.""

That's a pretty funny quote. The Terps' non-conference schedule is mostly a bunch of cream puffs (okay, they threw in Tenn and Michigan State in the Paradise Jam this year, but we're mostly talking Coppin State and Mount St. Mary's here); in fact they really need to upgrade their non-conf schedule, particularly on the road.

Hey bballfan2005, you've talked a lot of trash about Maryland recently; here are some examples:

Feb. 2 re Miami and Md: "And no, Maryland is not an elite team in the ACC like UNC or Duke. What we saw last Sunday was a clash between the two (and only two) titans of the ACC. No way the game would've been that entertaining had Maryland been involved in a game with either team. "

Also on Feb. 2: "Maryland fans have a bad habit of not acknowledging when the other team does well. . Even after the UNC victory over Duke, I congratulated UNC on a well-played game by both teams."

So where's your congrats to Md for a well played and entertaining game last night? I see you *were* on this thread.... Shocked
