Think it's time we start the Tennessee vs. LSU thread. I'm really pulling for the Lady Vols tonight. They've had three wins after their 'losing streak' but they weren't really quality wins. A win tonight would pretty much right the ship in my opinion.

P.S. Zolman better show up tonight or her stock in the WNBA is all but lost

Man, everybody for Tennessee better show up because they don't have the quickness or the defense that LSU has. I think LSU wins this game honestly. Although Tennessee's defense has looked a lot better since their losses, they still don't play 40 minutes of it like LSU.

1. Zolman has got to finally play well in a big game
2. Spencer needs the output she has shown she is capable of in the games where Zolman was absent
3. Hornbuckle needs to play under control
4. Anosikie and Fluker need to try to bother Fowles down low both on defense and trying to get her in foul trouble on offense
5. PARKER, but I mean she shows up and play everynight, she is basically the only sure thing on this team

I'm still waiting for that big game that cements Parker as a star. Maybe this will be the one.

I also hope this is the game Fowles throws it down so I can gloat I was right about who would be first.

If the Lady Vols are going to be a final four contender they have to show their stuff, all their stuff, tonight. I'm afraid LSU is running a tighter ship... I'm hoping for a close game & a Lady vols win Exclamation

My question goes the other way - who on LSU can shoot Tenn out of a zone? How can they win if Tenn packs it inside and dares LSU to make outside shots?

If Mark Jones is doing the game, the possibility will be mentioned countless times (of course in his distinct clever and witty way Rolling Eyes)

Yes it would...I'd be very happy to see that go down. I'd be just as happy if this game is as exciting as the UNC/Duke game.

Parker is incredible, and I'd love to see her dunk - or Fowles - or BOTH! but personally I'll be pretty surprised if TENN wins this one. their only hope is to get Fowles in foul trouble, and even then they could blow it. They just don't have the team that LSU does. not this year. sorry, Volunteer fans.

on the other hand, feeling better and better about my SCARLET KNIGHTS!!!

me love somma dat CAPPIE! Very Happy

Because of all the hype and it's a national audience, anyone else have a distinct feeling this game will end up being a disappointing blowout?

I do. I'm hoping that I'm wrong, though. Cool

Remember that LSU lost to a UConn team that TN beat. Fowles got in foul trouble and LSU was held to only 48 points.

Three important things to remember about LSU:

1. Other than Augustus and Fowles, none of their players really scare you offensively

2. LSU either won't or can't shoot the three, making them extremely vulnerable to zone defenses (as Baylor showed in the Final Four last year)

3. LSU has a young point guard going against Tennessee's pressure in Knoxville.

I know Pat very, very rarely plays zone, but this would be a great night to do it. Sag on Fowles in the paint, and force LSU to make at least 6-9 3-pointers to beat you. Even if LSU hits one or two, stay with the zone and make them hit a bunch of them.

Don't double-team Augustus and make things easier for others. Let her get her 25 points and make sure everyone else doesn't go off. Pat did this to Chantelle Anderson and Vanderbilt in 2002 and to Alana Beard and Duke in 2003 with great success. I see no reason why this can't be different.

Get in the face of LSU's point guard and hound her. Shut her down, you shut down much of LSU's offense, because outside of Augustus and Fowles, the rest of their starters are very limited offensively.

When TN is on offense, go right at Fowles. UConn was able to get her in foul trouble, so I see no reason why Tennessee can't.

I think TN wins this one fairly comfortably, say, 64-48.

Tennessee shaping their act up. Parker is nasty, that last shoot was something a senior with leadership does, she's just great. If they keep playing well they can pull this off. Zolman's gotta get open for some shots. Anosikie is a beast on D. They are switching well. But Augustus is unstoppable

Tennessee woke up: 43-41 Lady Vols; Anosike took the charge before the TO.

That was a stupid technical foul. June Corteau is an idiot. In a game of that magnitude, you let that go.
