GameTracker must be broken. Does St. John's really only have 6 points in 15 minutes of play? Shocked

30-6 Scarlet Knights with 5 to go. Really, SJU?

Yikes, hopefully Rutger's won't find there offense vs. the Huskies at Gampel!

Well St. John's is on a vicious comeback to cut the deficit in half (to 12) at the half. Looks like Rutgers was lulled to sleep momentarily.

This is sounding a little like the Rutgers-Notre Dame game from last week.

CVS started subbing a little too aggressively, and I think they lost focus a little.

Ajavon only played 10 minutes in the half.

9-point game! Joy! Wait...

Goddess, but it's hard when your two favorite teams play each other. I want Rutgers to win and keep the pressure on UConn, but if St. John's could pull one off at the RAC... ai ya.

SJ has the ball. pondexter blocks a shot, but she's called for a foul. Claxton (?) shooting 2 with a little more 1 minute left. 1st shot is good. 55-50. 2nd shot is good. 55-51.

Rutgers has the ball - Ajawon - they call a timeout.

1 minute to go.

47.1 seconds left.

57-51 Rutgers.

Rutgers possession.

30 seconds. Pondexter has the ball. passes to Ajawon - who gets an easy layup. Rutgers 59, St. Johns, 51.

How did Cappie do?
Looking forward to the UConn game. That's when we'll know if she's the real deal.

Cappie: 24 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals... just another typical night.
Here's the box score:

I think we know that already. She's averaging over 21 ppg against teams that were ranked when RU played them (NC State, Temple, Michigan, Notre Dame, St. John's, Texas), and the only team in that bunch to hold her under 20 was Temple, which kept her down to 19.

I was actually referring to the pressure situation of playing at Gampel against a team with momentum. I have faith in Cappie Very Happy

Cappie historically does not do great against UConn.

Last year she scored 19, 18 and 10 in the 3 games, but that was on 7-23, 5-12, and 5-13 shooting.

However the focus has led to others....Ajavon had 20 in the games they lost and Newton had 19 I think in the game they won at the RAC.

That 5-13 (38%) looks a lot better when you realize the rest of the team shot 12-46 (26%). She also had 8 of her team's 35 rebounds in that game. She was the only RU player who hit double figures in all three games, to boot.

Different seasons, as usual...she has a lot at stake now. I think she realizes that. We'll see.
