Nothing is going to happen any time soon. All Dolan did was gain complete control of his teams and buildings. They are trying to make it easier to sell Cablevision, not MSG LLP. Charles Dolan wants to get into the satellite business, Jim doesn't. Charles couldn't care less about sports, Jim loves his teams. So they'll probably sell the cable company within the next 5 years and keep MSG and all of its affiliates.

Jim Dolan would have to leave, or be bought out or fired by Charles before they sell the cable company in order for him to lose control of the teams, the Garden and RCMH and I don't see that happening. The West Side Stadium fight is the key. Bloomberg has already said there is no way he'll let the Dolans win so the fans only hope is that they piss off enough polititans, tax payers who want the stadium and communtity types to be forced out of the Garden at which point they'd have to sell the teams because as we know, teams don't make profits and the Garden and RCMH are the money makers. Also, remember, the Nets are on their way. An arena in Brooklyn and a West Side stadium would kill the Garden in terms of hosting all of those concerts and conventions, not to mention the revenue they might lose from basketball fans going elsewhere.

All that said, Jim Dolan is good for the Liberty. He just needs to pay a little more attention to the on the court problems. In his mind, Blaze isn't incompetent because the Liberty don't lose real money and they aren't a public relations nightmare. But we all know NY fans only tolerate so much and with Blaze at the helm for too much longer, they will begin to lose money and they've already started their quest to become a pr nightmare on a WNBA scale at least. So eventually she will be gone. Dolan is good for the team because to him, they're part of the package. He's not one of those owners who shoo's his WNBA team off to the side and doesn't really want them. Dolan really isn't a bad guy. He's actually quite nice. He's just a medling owner with too much money who really doesn't know much about basketball.

I think Jim Dolan could take a page out of Steinbrenner's book in terms of how to succeed in NY. Granted the W doesn't have the pockets the Yanks have, but Steinbrenner's mentality is what you just said, NYers don't like crap. We put up with some for shorter periods, preferrably. The Knicks are giving tix away...they can't get people to go see that sinking ship. If Dolan loves his teams so much, a little more effort into them would only help the cause!
