The flashing dance floor on which John Travolta strutted his way to stardom in "Saturday Night Fever" is being put up for auction.
The multicolored floor had remained a fixture at the 2001 Odyssey nightclub in Brooklyn -- later renamed Spectrum -- ever since bearing the weight of Travolta and his tight, white suit in the 1977 movie that turned the disco trend into a global phenomenon.
The club closed last week, but owner Jay Rizzo told the New York Daily News on Tuesday that he had felt compelled to save the famous floor.
"I had to," Rizzo said. "Over the years, we've had thousands of people who come here just to see it.
