okay, kids. the new promo is out. have at it.

my first complaint: when i clicked on the link, it wouldn't play. seems it only wants to be played in real player, at least from my mac. hmph!

if you have real player, just drop in this link. otherwise, go to the page on the dotcom.

uninspired and underachieved. painful to call that an improvement . . . but let's see what the others in the series look like.

actually, the more i think about it, it grates me that the wnba is so in bed with realone, so limited in its vision, that it would create videos that only play in realplayer. i tried it in quicktime and windows media player, and no go. not only is that narrow-minded, when the flow is going away from proprietary technology, but why frustrate fans with that kinda nonsense? all a body wants to do is play the freakin video!

They played during the all-star game. The trolls should be hitting ESPN, just about....right now.

I'd rather have "This is Our Game" than "This is Who I Am." Did any of you have the Eight O'Clock commercial run during the All-Star festivities...I have, about four times.

well, that's tellling - that a few (too many) people have already said they can't even play the blasted thing.

there may be an easier way, but here's my solution. i'm on a mac, but it'll be similar on a pc: go to http://www.realone.com and download the free realplayer (there's one for windows, one for mac). once installed, copy the link at the top of this thread. then go to file>open location. paste the link/address into the field. (you can then save the address as a favorite inside the realplayer program for later.)

you may as well get squared away with realplayer now because it looks as if the dotcom is wedded to it. unfortunately. you may have to set it up as your default media player to handle future video links from that site.

Thanks for the tip, bibb. It worked for me. It's sloppy.

I played it just fine. (I'm a Windows user, though) I love the new promo...at least this first one.

Most definitely an improvement over "This is Who I Am." By far.

Although, I do agree about the dotcom being tied to Real Player...it's pretty crappy. I've had very little good experience with Real, and I only use it if I have to. This promo is the first time I've used it in at least six months, as a matter of fact.

ummmm. i don't know what to say. i just don't.

this is surely not MY wnba movie. i think mine would be filmed at majerle's.

....so, the wnba is a bunch of girls that play in an empty high school gym? and their fans are two baby dykes?

kara and keesh were good. ruth and adia looked like two kids at a sleep over party, not professional athletes. i can't say whether i dislike this more than this is who i ain't, but at least it can't get any worse with orender at the helm.

Well, Nicole Ohlde looks better... Confused

I wonder if this mean Adia will be resigned... Question Idea

I know Charlotte Smith fronted as the PR person in the off-season right before she was waived... but that was only local work.

The question is...which version would be filmed? Personally, the R-rated version was more fun. Laughing

I didn't see Alana Beard in the video...guess Adia Barnes is a bigger star...or they can't get cameras to Korea.

We've got players in uniform playing with a basketball. That alone makes it a step up over "This is Who I Am". We still don't get game action, but it's a step in the right direction.

The ad is very Disney Channel and should work well aimed at that market.

hopefully, they'll improve once everyone comes home and they can shoot more real, arena footage. it's better than "this is who i am," but it looks like they gave this project to the two "apprentice" teams. pretty mediocre stuff.

I'm just glad to see it about basketball and they're not trying to pimp them as sex bunnies, that ball. It's a start.

As I said previously, ANYTHING is an improvement over whatever they had going with the This Is Who Ain't ads, but geez, that looked like a B-movie. Very sloppy and it doesn't help that some of the lesser known players were cast...

that was strictly PG-13... err... kinda. i am willing to work on an R-rated version, tho. the soundtrack would be nina simone singing "i put a spell on you." Wink

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. However, they probably scooped up whoever was in the US at the time.

I had no problem with Lawson. She is VERY bright and a rising star in the broadcasting world. Plus, she is the classic blue-collar bench player who does what is asked of her and always gives 100 percent.

Adia Barnes, on the other hand...

Lets put it like this...when Barnes is picked over Alana Beard and Anna DeForge, it becomes apparent that talent was not a consideration in the selection of certain players.

And I won't even mention the exclusion of Lauren Jackson, a former MVP!

Cam, we know most of the major stars are overseas, otherwise I would have had to endure yet another "I'm not as sweet as you think I am" crap.
Only reason they're not in the ads is they are overseas and Korea isn't exactly around the corner...
