In a case involving the Dartmouth men's basketball team, a rep from the NLRB has ruled they are employees of the university and may unionize to negotiate salary, practice hours, etc. Dartmouth, as part of the Ivy League, currently doesn't allow athletic scholarships or NLI agreements and the team wants its piece of the pie. The school's position is that they are student-athletes, not employees. The case now goes before the full NLRB but could take a long time to sort out.

This is a big can of worms.
