Intense game so far, but Stanford has had the upper hand. Up 37-22 mid second quarter. Duke getting into some foul trouble despite the refs not calling very tightly.

And Duke pulls within 8 43-35 at the half after Brink sits with 2 fouls. Duke post duo of Camilla Emsbo and Delaney Thomas has been more effective. Frosh Oluchi Okanawana making plays all over the court. Taina Mair finding her shot.

Pretty wild for Stanford to score 30 in the first quarter and then 23 combined in quarters 2 and 3.

Terrible out-of-control freshman mistake by Okananwa on that drive with under a minute left.

Duke got creamed on the boards (by 10) and in FTM's (by 12) according to box. |

Duke got some great o boards and put backs when they climbed back into the game and took the lead. Emsbo, Okananwa and Thomas all snagged some boards against Brink and Iriafen.
Proud of this young Duke team for competing against a team that massacred a formerly top 10 Indiana team. Might Duke move into the rankings after losing by only 3 pts in OT? Of course, they also lost to unranked Davidson, so...

In case my implication wasn't clear, I was complimenting Duke for coming within a whisker of beating Stanford at Maples even though they got significantly out-rebounded and out-free-throwed. |

Stanford let an unranked team take them to OT at Maples. That's strong evidence that they have a lot of work to do.

Best game of the day! 😎
Yeah, it's true.....The Cardinal need a bit of fine-tuning, but....name one team (other than SC) that doesn't. Duke was very impressive, imo. Brink was amazing, and Iriafen was darned good, too.

A big difference for Duke was their player Ashlon Jackson who I believe went 0-4 from three each of the last two games but went 6-10 against Stanford. She was not high on the scouting report!

Yes, Action Jackson can be a streaky shooter, but has been having solid floor games, even when her shot's not falling. I think she gains shooting confidence playing PG - especially when the play called by Kara is for the play is for Jackson to get screened for a shot. Since both Ashlon and Taina Mair can shoot the rock, it's working to have both on the floor.
