2024 has nothing but unanswered questions to look forward to. New coach. New General Manager. Some new free agents. Many questions and no answers yet.

You need.....
well.....
just about everything.
Most of your starters would be really good as backups. tbh I felt sorry for Copper trying to make it work.
It's like your pieces are mostly sorta, kinda ok and when it's all clicking it's sorta, kinda ok if mediocre is ok, but really you need at least one high level free agent. Can you see that happening?

They might as well sign CWill and Smith, who turned out to be a couple of their best players. Bring back Harrison and Gardner healthy. Maybe replace Hebard with the draft pick, and see how it works out. It was the first year a revamped squad was together. So, continuity and health might improve their standing next year.

With so many of the potential high quality UFA signing contract extensions this year there is not much to look forward to. We are assuming that JJ and Stewart are resigning with New York because that was their preferred destination. There are a few players that might be interesting. They are Rebkell's most hated players. 😁

I wonder if Quigley will come back for a final season in Skytown or whether she'll try and play with Vandersloot somewhere.

I can't see an almost-38 year-old Quigley cracking New York's backcourt rotation. No way she makes the team, unless Vandersloot decides to pull a Giannis, on some, "I won't re-sign unless you sign my wife."

I can see her at least making it deep into camp. We're probably not getting Marine Johannes back due to the Olympics in Paris; the French federation is apparently being very strict about attendance. So there's a slot open in the backcourt. And if pickings are slim or we do something dumb in the draft, a variation of the Chancellor policy for the last slot on the bench could be in play. I'm not saying I would personally do this- Quigley might bring the same level of shooting as Marine, but she's not as good a passer and I'm not sure if she'd be an upgrade on defense- but I can see a path for it to happen. Maybe she'll be our emergency booty call next year the way Epiphanny Prince was this year.

I think Quigley's done. I think she was almost done 2+ years ago, and tacked on an "oh, why not" year at least once. I'd be surprised if she returned after over a year of not playing at all (especially for the vet minimum, which could well be all New York had to offer). |

Quigley should have just retired after 2022. She took longer and longer to find her shot each year. Outside of last year's 3- point contest, she never did.
I wasn't hopeful with all the "pieces" we ended up with. Very glad Copper didn't bail but would have understood if she had. She needs a lot of help.
Harrison was a puzzlement - she hardly was around. Seem to recall a rumor that she didn't want to come. My guess is she's gone

Basically with the 2024 first round pick out of the picture in Chicago and all the lottery teams below them possibly getting game changing talent in the lottery next year the only way for Chicago to climb from the 8th spot and not fall in 2024 IMO is to drop a max contract at Diggins-Smith and/or Bri Jones' feet and hope for the best.

I always wanted Bri Jones - just concerned about her full recovery time.
SDS is a good player, but I do not want her in Sky-Town (even though the name would fit right in!). Just don't like 'er...

She is a gamer. She is a baller. She is a playmaker and a shot caller. In case you didn't know...? Whose town is? SKY TOWN!

The Chicago Sky have announced that Emre Vatansever will not retain the roles of head coach/general manager for the 2024 season

I don’t think Lange should be allowed to head coach at the same as his wife. Just think ahead for once and avoid even the look of improprieties occurring.

I thought Pokey has stated that she doesn’t want a HC job.

Also, why would they hire Pokey again? They fired her....

Also she's bad. She had Fowles and Vandersloot, which got the team in position to draft Delle Donne. With all three of those she managed a winning record just half the time.

Why is Weatherspoon uninspiring. One of the main complaints is the lack of former players coaching in the WNBA. She worked closely with player in the NBA. Chicago should go for it.

The Atlantic posted a very different list. I'm a subscriber but am out and about so just gonna post the names.
Tonya Edwards
Chris Koclanes
Chelsea Newton
Sonia Raman
Teresa Weatherspoon
The report is that the Sky spoke to the latter two prior to announcing the coaching change.

“One of the best players in WNBA history”
Okay. Spoon is a lot of superlatives but like, how long is the list of “one of the best” in practical terms. Like top half of all players ever? Sure.
Regardless, it’s really fun seeing the influx of former players, especially ones with personalities that are easy to be drawn towards.
