K. Mitchell for M. Mabrey? Thoughts?

Good point that Mitchell has been a ball-dominant (combo guard?). IF Clark can handle WNBA defensive pressure and also get to the basket she should be controlling the ball most of the time given her passing ability. Not sure about the Mabrey and Clark defensively though.

My thought is Mabrey is a better fit with Clark. Mitchell needs the ball in her hand, Mabrey does not. Mabrey is a better defender who thrived playing off of a dominant guard in Dallas (Ogunbowale). Mitchell is an alpha on offense it could work with Clark or it could be struggle, in Chicago Mitchell could have the ball in her hand, add some star power and scoring to to a team lacking both, bringing true lead guard energy while the new posts (Reese and Cardoso) develop.

Hard to know if they can work together, but as a Fever fan, I'd like to try it. You have the two most prolific NCAA three-point shooters in the same backcourt. Having an offensive player and scorer as good as Mitchell will help take some defensive pressure off of Clark making her harder to double or cheat on.

Mitchell has been the alpha on offense, but she has had to be. The best players she has been in the backcourt with are Tiffany Mitchell and the shell of Cappie Pondexter.

Are you doing PR salesmanship with this “true lead guard energy”? Mitchell is a lead guard like Ogunbowale is a lead guard. Not really. Chicago has Dana Evans as the PG, who should do fine. They also have Chennedy Carter, who has looked pretty good in the parts that they’ve shown her. If Chicago is too stacked to keep her, some team should consider jumping on her. But I think Weathspoon might be the perfect coach for her.

For Indiana, I’d like them to stay as organic as possible. That’s how you develop team bonding. The Aces have three drafted starters. That seems to have worked out really well for them. The Fever have four drafted starters now. They just recently got rid of what could have been the fifth drafted starter in Vivians. That would have been really cool to see. But, KLS has looked really good from what I’ve seen. Might want to pick her up in your fantasy league in the later rounds.

Might want to check with pilight if he keeps track of that sort of thing, but active player for active player trades seem pretty rare (if not unheard of) at this point of the season. Maybe a player for future draft pick is more likely? A team might want to cut a player with some value and try to make a deal with a team with no waiver power.

(edit) Oh, I forgot all about Lindsay Allen for Chicago. I felt she was really good for the Lynx when she could stay on the court.

The Indiana Fever exercised the fourth-year option on the rookie scale contracts of guards Lexie Hull and Kristy Wallace. The team waived guards Maya Caldwell and Leilani Correa.
