LA rebounded quite nicely Mr. Green More will be needed to make a push into the playoffs next season though. Which issues do they address first? Question

Time to pull the plug on the Chiney experience. She is an UFA, right? Do not re-sign her. Bye, Felicia.

Chiney played well when Nneka was sick very early on. Then she went away for the rest of the year. Either play or retire, Chiney! No more soup for you!!!

Little Jordin Canada for Most Improved Player of the year and at least a spot on the first team WNBA defensive team. Could she actually garner some votes for Defensive Player of the Year for becoming an absolute pest to opposing offenses?

LA getting a top 3 pick so they'll get a game changer. Needs: Big banging center or scoring wing. Why does LA always end up with so many power forwards and no center? Azura is tall enough but that's not her game.

Both Candace and Nneka were arguably the most talented players when they were drafted. Candace's cousin, Azura, is a finesse forward like Ace herself. It would be nice to secure a powerful, athletic paint presence at center or an athletic, hard-working wing who can score and defend to complete this team. I can see Zia eventually assuming starting shooting guard duties. Jordin has firmly established herself at point. La Presidente is the power forward, or small forward, or center it whatever she wants to be.

As well as MIP belonging to Satou . LA may need to watch Angel Reese and or Ayoka Lee this offseason closely.

Please end the Chiney mess. All these players beg for expansion so there are more roster spots, but none of them will call out Chiney or Toliver for making a complete mockery out of being on a WNBA roster for the past 4 seasons. they're literally paid for nothing.

And while we are at it, end Nneka as the WNBPA president. She's let her sister do this and she's completely fumbled the Riquana Williams mess. I mean, she let this person be her teammate after the first gun charges.

Draft Brink and Ayoka Lee. Move on from Chiney, give Canada and Layshia their flowers, and let KB work the budget like the Aces did. #SparksWillFly

Didn't Chiney once said that she and Nneka are a "package deal"? If Chiney is a UFA, is Nneka also one too? What happens if the Sparks re-sign Nneka, but shuts the door on Chiney?

I still maintain that offering her a studio gig would be the way to go there.

The implication is that Nneka won't sign unless they also offer Chiney a contract. I don't know if that's true. Making teams believe that may just be Chiney's way of keeping a roster spot.

I didn't watch much of the Sparks this year and also know she was coming off of a serious injury, but Jasmine Thomas's numbers were pretty bad this year. Is she under contract next year as well? She could certainly rebound but she's also a few days away from turning 34.

Sparks & Mystics both watching the waiver wire - especially Dallas - for a big. LA likely to pick one up in the draft but less likely Mystics will at #6. And, yeah LA needs to move on from always injured Chiney. Chiney, Toliver and EDD have missed more games than they've played the past 4 years.

Chiney has set herself up well for her post WNBA career. Just named to a new national commission set up to explore the African diaspora, in addition to her many broadcasting gigs.

Los Angeles Sparks Name Raegan Pebley General Manager

"The three-time WNBA Champion Los Angeles Sparks announced today the hiring of Raegan Pebley as General Manager. Pebley, who played in the WNBA from 1997-1998, joins the Sparks after a successful 21-year NCAAW head coaching career.

“We are excited to name Raegan Pebley the General Manager of the LA Sparks,” Managing Partner and Governor Eric Holoman said. “Raegan is an exceptional leader and culture builder. She has deep knowledge of the women’s basketball landscape and brings expertise in player development, talent evaluation, analytics, and organizational leadership. I’m looking forward to partnering with her as the Sparks begin the next phase of our build.”"
...
"Pebley will lead the Sparks front office alongside Eli Horowitz, who has been promoted to Assistant General Manager/Vice President of Scouting & Analytics; Ilene Hauser, Vice President of Basketball Operations/Player Relations, and two-time WNBA Coach of the Year Curt Miller."

Speaking of Raegan Pebley, this YouTube video is from last year (July 2023):

That was her side gig. Do your research- long time college coach and former WNBA player.

I knew she was a small time college coach, but this is what most of us know her as. This is a WNBA board. What you say doesn’t make it any less surprising that she was the one chosen for the job.

Apparently it was only a temporary position.
Quote:

Bryant will continue to collaborate with ownership on strategic initiatives and business operations. “The plan was always to identify a permanent GM...
