"Championship Seattle" Clark? She was underwhelming compared to Mystics Clark!

You are totally joking, right? Because Clark played like dog doo doo for the Mystics. Mystics thought they were getting someone close to Brittney Sykes but got "decent defender, can't hit the side of the barn" Clark instead.

And? The Aces didn't even get the "decent defender" part.

Those results really aren't surprising. But, really, she wasn't so much improved as not hurt. But I am glad that Sabally finally had a season to show everyone what she could do. Canada really had a breakout season as well. Those improved shooting numbers for 3 were great. I know that was a knock on her in Seattle. Smith really seemed to find her role and groove in Chicago as well. Congrats to all 3 for great seasons and making that leap forward.

I think that one vote for Laney came from Holly Rowe.

I rarely criticize these awards, but that choice is wrong. That should have been Thomas or Sykes. I'm bummed for them.

Voters do know that it's not just 4s and 5s in this league, right?

I don't have a problem with A'ja Wilson winning DPOY, but Sykes only getting three votes is fucking ridiculous.

Also, a team having two players on the All-Defensive squad missing the playoffs is wild!

As a Liberty fan, I am extremely grateful that they didn't announce this before Game 2. Cloud would have gone for 60 and locked down Sabrina so tight you'd have to put a NSFW warning on the highlights.

Stewart faded a bit in the final few weeks of the season

Has the margin between 1st and 3rd ever been so close?

No

It's the closest vote between 1st and 3rd place all-time in league history:

2023: 13 points between 1st and 3rd (Stewart, Wilson)
2013: 45 (Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne)
2008: 58.3 (Candace Parker, Sue Bird)
1999: 73 (Yolanda Griffith, Cynthia Cooper)

"In addition, this is the second time in WNBA history that the MVP runner-up received more first-place votes than the award recipient. In 2005, Jackson received 20 first-place votes and Swoopes received 16." That's also the closest vote between 1 & 2. I need to revisit that season!

But wow, a few folks swap AT to first and she would have won.

Wonder who this will lead to a "disrespected" narrative on and off court.

To be fair, any of the 3 of them would have been very worthy winners. I'm glad to see Collier in 4th as well.
