The officials 100% determined the outcome of this game. What an effing disgrace to the game.

I don't think I would go that far - LSU's very uncharacteristic shooting performance would get my vote - but I do concur that it's a disgrace to the game. It's a damn shame that this is apparently the best we can get.

I wouldn't say that they determined the outcome 100% but I would say they kept it from being more competitive.

These players and coaches work too hard to have the biggest game of their careers marred by incompetent or biased officiating. The powers that be in the Women's NCAA should be embarrassed and those officials shouldn't work another NCAA tournament game.

The officiating didn’t look good either way honestly. But LSU’s shooting is definitely what decided this game. Both teams ran their mouths and played with physicality. Iowa showed their frustration not far into the third quarter, they were rattled, and not playing their game. Clark and Bluder got them calmed down, which got them some big shots. LSU also clogged up passing lanes and made it difficult to get the ball around.

A phenomenal tournament and title game for both teams.

I am so happy for Mulkey, well deserved. What a great turnaround she has done at LSU

I visited a football board where they barely know women's basketball exists and they were commenting on how bad the officiating was.

It was totally embarrassing! And so sad as this is what many people who might be watching women's bball for the first time got to see. I see some bad reffing off and on throughout the season, but nothing as blatantly bad as this...and for a championship game. Unbelievable.

The officiating sucked, and not only in this game. It was bad the whole damn tournament. In fact, I will go so far as to say that in my little corner of the WBB world, the Sun Belt, it sucked rocks all season. There were a few officials who were decent, and some who were even good, but by and large I wondered if these people could even see beyond their own noses or had read a rule book. I’d hoped when we moved from the CAA to a slightly higher conference that we would have a slightly higher class of officials. Alas, if we can’t even get decent ones for a championship game, what hope is there for us in a lowly mid-major conference?

LSU's uncharacteristic outside shooting and stellar bench play, and Iowa's porous defense, decided the game. LSU was the better team today and certainly the deeper team.

But the officials made it more lopsided than it could have been and their performance was decidedly unworthy of a national championship game, especially one that likely had lots of viewers who rarely if ever watch WCBB tuning in.

Comments from another board I’m on:

“Omg I think the women’s finals are being officiated by Sun Belt or CAA refs.”

“Today’s refereeing is an absolute travesty. Whoever signed off on these clowns should be fired 8:00 am tomorrow.”

I think the fact that this is what we're all still talking about- not Jasmine Carson having the game of her life at the precise right moment, or any of the actual basketball that happened- says more about the officiating than the calls or non-calls did.

This wasn’t a good tournament to turn casuals into fans that’s for damn sure.

This article is 100% on point. The officials completely undercut Caitlin and Iowa but allowed LSU players to smash Iowa players in the face with no calls.

Anybody who did not see that the officiating was ridiculously lopsided was simply blinded by yet another of Kimmy's shiny pink outfits.

The first quarter of the Duke/Colorado game was like that. The officials got a 'talking to' between Q1 & Q2 and the rest of the game was called evenly. These officials should have been raked over those same coals after Q1 of this game. Unfortunately, they'd already set the table by calling those 2 bogus offensive fouls on Caitlin. The hole the officials buried Iowa in was too deep for even Caitlin to dig out of.

I don't mind losing to an outstanding shooting performance, but losing to the officials just really sucks.

Coming into this weekend all the talk was about this being an all women referee crew. Maybe that wasn't the best idea.

The best refs do the men's games, the women get what is left over.

a friend who watches men's games but hardly ever the women's just called and asked if the reffing was always 'like that'? I assured him it wasn't. He said that if a men's championship were reffed like that there would be a national rebellion.

Don't wait until tomorrow. Do it 8:00 pm tonight. Let them (and the clowns) find their own way home.

They should be suspended from refereeing for a year and be required to take written and practical exams before being allowed to ref a major college game again.

My favorite part of this was how exciting it was on Thursday that all the officials, for the first time in Final Four history, were all women. So, let's leave the identity politics aside next year and get the best officials. That game was wayyyyy too big for them yesterday.

Amen! I don't read the pregame hype articles or watch the pregame hype shows so I didn't know that the powers-that-be were hell-bent on having an all-female officiating crew. Were they picked before it was known who would be in the finals? If Mulkey, or a coach who behaves like her, is going to be in the finals, you have to have an officiating crew who will control them. Anything less is a disservice to the game.
