You're a WNBA GM and you have to decide whether to take Liz Shimek, or Sophia Young. Who do you take?

Young. Shimek's a nice player, but... Young.

Both will have to change positions in the pros. Young won't see any time at the 3 for Baylor this year, Shimek will see about 10 minutes a game at the 3 for MSU.

Who shoots better from the outside? Who can pass out fo the small forward position? Who is a better ball handler?

I actually think that these are fairly open questions at this point and while they may not be answered by Young, they may be by Shimek.

I don't necessarily see why Young will have to change to be in the pros. Sure she isn't a banger, but she's huge on the boards and is great in the lane. Her quickness and mobility will give her an advantage on the bigger less agile posts.

Young but I like Shimek's game as well. Young has the better upside and is more athletic. Young uses her quickness against bigger players. Shimek today had trouble against Kia Vaughn when she was being defended by her.

Both are good, but Young is better than Shimek or Augustus (and most of the GMs know that). Actually, anybody that watched last year's Final Four probably knows that.

blkkrik, that's exactly what I thought about Liz when Michigan State was here kicking my Sooners around. She has Katie's confidence and pretty shot, moves a lot like her, and even has the muscles. If you want some Katie Smith game tape, I bet you could borrow it from Liz.

But if I had to pick, I'd pick Young.

I'd take Shimek, but they are different players. I think Young can play four with a quick squad on the floor. Shimek I think can play either. I see Shimek as a Brooke Wyckoff type of player. Unfortunately USUN won't get a shot at her. If she was available I'd take her.
