While a lot of attention was placed on Candace Parker, the seniors on both teams made some noise.

For UConn, Strother's play early was clearly what jump-started their offense. Anytime you have a player connecting from 3 the way Strother was, you will expect a good start offensively. While Barb Turner didn't shoot very well, her ability to crash boards was huge for leveling the Tennessee bigs. When she fouled out, you could see the intensity drained from the UConn team. Wilnett Crockett also took a big charge on Parker which ultimately had no large impact, but could have.

For the Vols, who can argue with Sidney Spencer (a junior) for player of the game. She stepped in and hit big big shots on multiple occasions keeping UConn one step behind Tenn. Zolman couldn't hit early, but late in the game scored 11 points to keep the Huskies away. Fluker came up with a colleciton of big buckets, pushing to grab a likely final win over the Huskies for her career.

Thanks ladies for making it a great game today. UConn may have just found themselves. If Brit and Charde play like that most teams will crumble.

well said. What a great game to watch, good intensity, nice to see the rivalry flourish with another close game. Kudos to Uconn. I'm sure most expected a blow-out. Also, great was the Michigan/Rutgers. Excellent double header for women's basketball. 2 GREAT games for any basketball fan!!!

hopefully, a coupla channel-surfing non-fans lingered for a while. not a bad broadcasting crew either. i really like the mowins-antonelli combo, and i'd never complain about lobo - cool, understated, yet informative.
