With the recent addition of Darling & Sam, this seems more likely to me. What remains the Sting's most glaring need, an "enforcer" type 4, to pair with TSB? Looking at their roster now, it seems like Charlotte's payroll is fairly large, would trading for a lower first round pick save them significant $$$, in addition to picking up another veteran player, which Trudi seems to prefer? |

In a word, yes. They should've done that last year and ripped Minny for 2 starters. They have another chance now, so go for it.

I think they should, I said so back on lottery day.
I don't think they will. Trudi seems fairly risk averse, and trading out the the #1 overall pick is a high risk strategy.

If you're not going to play her, don't pick her.
So if Charlotte plans on their Nicole Powell strategy of grooming young talent, then I would trade down and get a veteran they're going to use.

"In a word, yes. They should've done that last year and ripped Minny for 2 starters. They have another chance now, so go for it."
First, Charlotte would only save approximately $4,000 by "trading down" in for a lower first round pick. Doesn't seem like enough to justify giving the firs pick and a draft that is not very deep.
Secondly, Charlotte had no chance of "ripping" Minny for 2 starters last year, simply because in the end, the players they wanted were not available. Give the Lynx a litte credit for knowing what was best for the team.
Lasty, just because trading down is suggested on a message board doesn't mean that if Charlotte decided to trade down, they would get exactly what they want.

I can't stand Nicole just sitting on the bench...

I agree completely...I think Nicole has so much raw talent and a brain to go with it, she just needs to be in the right situation for all of that to shine.

I'll never get over Indy trading that pick - she would be INCREDIBLE by now after a season with Tamika...

This depends on how you define starters. The Sting were offered #6 and #7 (which ultimately turned into Nicole Ohlde and Vanessa Hayden) plus Helen Darling for #3. Ohlde went on to start all 34 games for Minnesota, while Darling started 22...

Minny does not have the same urgency it seems to me for McCarville as it had for Whalen.
Lindsay was considered necessary by some to survive. Now after making the playoffs with the great draft they had, I don't sense them being urgent to get McCarville.

Orlando drafted Chris Webber #1 then traded him to Golden State on draft day for Anfernee Hardaway and three future first rounders.
