Inauspicious beginning for ND.

First 7 possessions results in 5 turnovers, almost all forced passes that were either intercepted, tipped or in one case to Westbeld in a position where she had nowhere to move or go and traveled.

Resulted in several fast break baskets for Clemson and they lead 8-2.

Ivey has seen enough of that garbage and called TO.

Notre Dame is once again shooting like crap, 25% in the first Q, has consequently scored a pathetic 8 pts, and trails 12-8.

I'll probably get "scolded" again by another ND fan for my entirely accurate statement that ND's cold shooting woes have extended for several games.

Clemson leads 29-26 at the half.

Shooting matters. ND is struggling at 10-28, and 2-10 from the arc.

Meanwhile Clemson is out of their minds, shooting 54% and 3-6 on threes.

But it's only a one possession game, and I admit my bias but I think you can see which is the better team. I would expect those shooting percentages to eventually shift towards the norm, and that ND is essentially in an even game with a 20% shooting deficit gives hope for a better second half if those shooting percentages converge.

Miles has been carrying her team, even more than usual, with 12 pts, 5-6, and 2-3 from the arc.

Mabrey has another 0-3 from the arc and 0-6 overall. Letting her shoot the ball is as good as a turnover.

Art, how are you watching the game?

I keep getting "error, try again or contact us."

I'm getting other games, not this one.

I think that I'm going to contact ESPN and tell them what a piece of crap they are.

It's on a whole bunch of regional sports networks. I'm watching it on MASN.

That error usually means it's being shown on a RSN covering where you live ( and they have exclusive rights, thus blacking out ESPN streaming).

If you have a VPN, maybe you can try changing your location.

Wow, you really do take debates personally, don't you?

ND has had poor shooting games on the road and this one is another example. Of course, the turnovers and overall defense by Clemson isn't helping, either.

But what if I don't have any RSN? SOL??

I so hate ESPN. I tried to do a chat with them and I got a FanBot. First question was about streaming UFC PPV. Fucking idiots run that network.

ND comes out, scores 6 straight, and takes the lead. 90 seconds into Q3 and Clemson calls TO.

More than the poor shooting, what tends to upset me about these games are all those forced lobs inside that so often get picked off. If you're getting them picked off that much, maybe you should rethink doing that.

That said, ND is coming out stronger at the half and now lead.

38-34 ND at the media timeout.

ND still missing a bunch but playing much more energetic defense.

Clemson is throwing up ridiculous threes and they keep going in. It's what's keeping the game tight.

They're 29% from the arc on the season, but 50%, 6-12, tonight.

It's a tie game at the end of 3Q.

It would be nice if they could actually defend against the 3 point shot. It's one of ND's worst stats this season.

Some of those have actually have been defended, a couple others have been from well behind the line.

You're right that a couple were left wide open as other players were double teamed, but you can only do so much, and some of those have been made by players you don't expect to be shooting from way out there.

Another wide open 3 for Clemson from the corner as Citron collapsed onto the ball in the paint.

ND still only shooting 34% and is missing good shots. Short ones, long ones, mid range ones, just not going in.

Still a tie game with 5 minutes to go.

Timeout Clemson, ND up 2 with 3:27 to go.

If ND prevails it will be because of their defense. They have TWENTY steals so far.

Westbeld makes a 2 from the elbow, and then 2 free throws after a beautiful Miles blocked shot.

ND has its largest lead of 6 with 29 seconds left.

On the inbounds, Citron gets trapped, slapped, and shoved, and on replay they say she stepped out.

Of course they didn't call any of the fouls. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

What do you know, Clemson missed the forced 3 pointer, Westbeld gets the rebound and gets fouled but misses both free throws. Clemson misses the half court heave.

Wow, that was an UGLY offensive performance by ND, but it's tough to win on the road in this league. I'll take what I can get.

Good defense though, even though the ESPN stats have been adjusted down to only 17 steals.

I think technically they did call a foul, but then they said that she stepped out of bounds before the foul, so the foul was overturned. Whether she stepped out of bounds due to what should have been called a foul, well... Wink
