you can play all three together Cloud is big for a PG Sykes is small for a SF it kind of evens out

there may be others moves but something like

Cloud/Macida
Atkins/Jaz. Jones/Westbrook
Sykes/#4 (H. Jones, Joens or Jackson)
EDD/MHA/(? $20 , camp invite, vet minimums Hawkins, Billings, Harrison)
Austin/(? Maybe E. Will)

If Chicago is imploding maybe go with 11 and see if you can go 4 posts scrape together enough cap to bring back Meesseman?

Meesseman is a risk because of prioritization.

I really hope they don't sign Machida again. We need a taller, stronger back up point.

Mike T. has said time and time again this off season the Mystics need better perimeter shooting from the small forward imo Sykes isn't a good enough 3 point shooter. Ashley Joens might be who the Mystics are looking for at the 4th pick. By the way, I think Sykes and Westbrook makes it harder for Machida to make the Mystics team this upcoming season.

I hope he is looking at Abby Meyers, I think she would be a great lift off the bench.

Those who followed more closely, please remind me about Brittney Sykes playing PG. The team as a whole was so decimated by Fisher, I don't remember how Sykes did in running the team. I believe her to be a reasonably good ball handler and willing to do all the dirty work. Can she find her teammates after slashing in the lane? I trust Eric/Mike to draw up plays timed so players are sliding into open spaces when she makes her move.

I'm very curious to see what the EDD situation is for 2023. Clearly Washington is being aggressive with FA. I'm curious to see what they put on the court this season and how competitive they are and how integral EDD is to their offense or if she'll have a similar workload as last season. I just hope, for the sake of the fans, they are more strategic and mindful of national TV games when it comes to resting EDD.

I blocked Twitter on my phone. Can you tell me what the tweet says?

It’s a video of EDD working out on the court

Thank you..I hope she's very healthy and able to play to her full ability. I don't mind them resting her but felt like they made some odd choices on which games to do it in last season.

I already felt like it was pretty obvious Machida was not in the plans moving forward, and bringing back Toliver makes that seem more obvious (although KT will not be available until the Mavericks' season ends).

To be honest, I'm underwhelmed by the moves so far. What does KT have left in the tank after a not-great year last year at age 36? Sykes is a great defender and is great in transition, but she's not a shooter. All we've heard is that the main goal in the offseason was to upgrade outside shooting, and I'm not sure that has really happened. It sounds like the Mystics swung and missed on some bigger fish in free agency and are now settling...

Glad that 2019 title happened.

Two-year, guaranteed deal for Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, according to source. Some stability after a rough patch in 2020-21.

Expecting one more but might not be until tomorrow.

There might be another Mystics free agent signing by tomorrow.

Who did the Mystics thus far missed out in free agency who could've given them the outside scoring?

The SWK signing makes me extra happy. She deserves it.

i’m skeptical that
—signing Sykes for 3 years at $190k+ per year,
—giving SWK a 2-yr guaranteed deal, and
—bringing back Toliver who played in very few games the past three years in LA

will, separately or jointly, make the Mystics better

Why did they want Lil Mopey back? She didn’t do much last year.

i don’t like seeing Toliver stay in the league

her injury-proneness in recent years and her NBA AC career (which caused her to miss like the first half of the season last year) would seem to suggest she ought to give up that roster spot & retire

What I read she'll won't start play for the Mystics until the Dallas Mavericks season is finish. Kristi is Mystics family. Kristi will give a veteran presence off the bench and she'll at least be a better shooter than Machida gave the Mystics in 2022.

Toliver hasn’t shot above 37% from 3 since the 2016 season

to reformat a SZA song lyric,

them “good enough to get the job done” accusations? weak

them “better shooter than Machida” accusations? true

Mike T likes chemistry on the Mystics team. Plus, Kristi is sort of like a player/coach, she knows the Mystics system.

Just tossing this out there. Natasha Cloud is a free agent after the 2023 WNBA season, could it be possible Mike T trade her before the 2023 WNBA since the Mystics now have Brittney Sykes? Spotrac has Sykes' salary (3yrs. $575K) as the 2nd highest on the Mystics salary cap after EDD. What's could Mike T get for Cloud in value before the draft?

Out of curiosity, has there ever been a roster move that you haven’t either initially liked or grown to like from Thibault? Razz

Funny you ask that. Yes, Stefanie Dolson, Kahleah Copper and the second overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft for Elena Delle Donne. I didn't like giving up Three 1st round draft picks for 1 player but once Elena put on a Mystics uniform and played on the court how could one not love the trade by Mike T. Heck, I didn't like trading the 1st pick in the 2022 Draft but Austin won me over and the Mystics got a lottery pick in the 2023 Draft.

Per Jenn Hatfield The Next Hoops:

A source tells The Next Hoops that Shatori Walker-Kimbrough's new contract with the Washington Mystics is for 2 years at $95,000 and $97,850, with the 1st year protected. That's about $20,000 above the veteran minimum each year and a raise from her $72,141 salary in 2022.

Wait, the Mystics are your team and you don’t even recognize the value of Cloud? Shocked
