Interesting Egbo started the year on fire but fizzled out toward the end...basically being replaced by Cannon Shocked so I guess being replaced by Boston won't be such a big blow to her.

Egbo didn't play in their penultimate game due to tweaking her knee in warmups, and I believe they probably limited her minutes today because of that as well. Just FYI in case you hadn't heard. Your general point about the trajectory of her season stands. I think she showed the promise of becoming a solid backup on a decent team.

do they really need a #1 pick. the last few years there has not been a clear-cut number 1, but they've been in the lottery... its the coaching and existing personnel.

Will the Fever hire a new head coach, who is likely to be the candidates?

I could see them forgetting to hire a coach. Indiana is that incompetent.

She died in 2018.

Do you mean Stephanie White?

Nope. I'm aware that Anne had passed. Indiana may not.

I'm somewhat upset that my prediction for 5 wins at the beginning of the '22 season was correct. Laughing

No idea what needs to be done to fix this team or organization though, just hope we can keep the Stranger Things jerseys for a while. At least we can underperform in style. Cool

Not off to a great start. I've got some bad news for you about those jerseys ...

I mean, having a lich as coach would be pretty badass, but a zombie probably wouldn’t work (unless we’re using Discworld rules, in which case, “too stubborn to acknowledge death” is a pretty good character trait for a coach).

I may be overthinking this, though.

Damn it! I'm more upset about this than the 5 win season.

As PUmatty has mentioned many times, it starts with #1 picks in the right year. Hell, two of Vegas's were in what a lot of people thought might be the 'wrong' years, and those have turned out pretty well. You need the talent. Especially when you're in a city that's not exactly a free agent destination. Yes, they need to get other stuff right at some point as well, but it's amazing how other stuff starts to fix itself once you get a more talented roster.

I'm usually perfectly happy rooting for chaos in the lottery, but this year I really hope Indiana end up with Boston. They need a star. Smith's good, but I'm not sure she's that. Boston has a pretty good chance to be that, even if it's not 100% nailed on.

That's exactly it. And even if the Fever draft Boston, there is a very good chance they would still be in the lottery and potentially in line for a set of No. 1 picks. Imagine how different things would look if two years from now this team is building around Boston and Clark or Buekers.

I was thinking about the Fever this morning and it made me wonder who did more damage to a franchise as a GM: Nolan Richardson to the Shock (now Wings) or Tamika Catchings to the Fever. Richardson got rid of more assets, while Catchings had dreadful drafts.

In all fairness to Catchings, she was GM for only two drafts. Indy never won the lottery.......In 2020 Indy passed on Carter and Drafted Cox. Ionescu/Sabally went 1/2.....While I think Indy should've grabbed Carter.....Chennedy hasn't lived up to the hype. She's had drama with teammates and some personal issues (Not all her fault).........In 2021 Indy drafted Kysre Gondrezick...Terrible draft pick. However, take a look at the players who were drafted in the 1st rd after Gondrezick:

Michaela Onyenwere
Jasmine Walker
Shyla Heal
Rennia Davis
Stephanie Watts
Aaliyah Wilson
Iliana Rupert

How many of these players are even in the league?... How many of them are even getting consistent minutes off the bench?

I recall a lot of people on this board being high on Cox for whatever reason

2021 is already looking like a contender for worst draft ever
