81-75. Things were all tied up at halftime.

Depaul struggling against BEast teams they shouldn't be.

Wait till they come to Milwaukee Saturday night Smile. Just kidding - Marquette is just as likely to get blown out in that game as they are to win it and Marquette has a big game vs. Virginia tomorrow to deal with before that...

Are Pitt way better than they were last year?

Etiquette issue: when starting a game thread, do not put the results of the game in the header: "DePaul vs Pitt" would be the appropriate title, not "Depaul escapes Pitt" (or "DePaul beats Pitt" or whatever).

That way people who might have TiVo'd a game, or who intend to watch it as a delayed web video (which you can do, for example, with most UConn games), won't inadvertently learn the outcome before they watch the game.

Pitt is a very youn team, they only have one senior on the roster. They have Mercedes Walker who is a wide body 6'3" center, who is a good player for a sophomore.

They also have a pretty good freshman named Maddy Brown. She is a guard from around Rochester NY, and my friend's dad was her HS assistant coach.

I also forgot that Shea Ralph was an assistant there until I saw her on the bench at one point - I'm surprised you didn't mention that bart Smile...

Pitt's not nearly the pushover they were; still mid-pack at best, but not terrible.

I think that all these new conference games are going to be challenges this year.

Anyone who watched the game have thoughts on Khara Smith as a pro prospect? The announcers said she wasn't in top condition because she can't practice due to plantir fascitis (sp), but 29 and 14 isn't bad.

She was impressive; I will caution that some of DePaul's numbers will be inflated due to the run and gun nature of their team. I didn't realize until last night how fast they play. I knew they were aggressive, but they looked almost like a Westhead team on offense last night.

Khara Smith is very short for a pro. post, and doesn't appear to be all that fast. Perhaps she'd stick as a Tari Phillips type, but it's a long shot IMHO.

What is her shooting range? Most of her shots last night were close in.

Presumably, she can improve her speed if she can get over the injuries and improve her conditioning.

I watched that game last night and oh the memories it brought back of "Billy Ball", that run-and-gun style of Billy Tubbs, my Favorite coach of all time.

I love that style of play and DePaul was pretty darn good at it. What impressed me the most was their ability to get the ball inside-all the players could pass, not just a point guard passing specialist. Oklahoma should watch tapes of DePaul to learn how its done. If we passed like that in to Courtney, "oh my lordy be!".

As for Khara playing in the WNBA, she needs a great passing to get her the ball, maybe Sac or Phoenix?

Embarassed I didn't know until yesterday that Khara is the daughter of former Illinois & NBA player Ken Norman. There's a one page article on her in the current issue of Slam magazine.
