Go Lancers! I've gotten attached to my fantasy player Akila Smith - under 6' but amazing shot blocker. And they have a gunner who can shoot them into or out of games.

I don't know anybody on either team. I almost took a job in Farmville (home of Longwood) but I reconsidered. There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, there. Even the university is nothing. Les boonies.

Yeah, if she had a) a few more inches or b) a three point shot, she would get a shot at the next level. Unfortunately it ain't gonna happen but she's had a great college career. And you can see why I've enjoyed watching her this year.

The flip side is that she'd probably be somewhere besides Longwood.

true. She reminds me a bit of A'rianna Harris at Purdue a year or two ago though I think Harris was over 6'. I have no idea if she's thinking about a fifth year. It would be kind of fun to see her try a grad year at a 'bigger' school. Maybe expand her game.

Just turned the game on and idk if it's NC State's arena or what but it looks and sounds the best of the First Four games so far. So Kudos to both Mt St Marys, Longwood, and NC State area for making it look good for TV, IMO.

Having both teams within driving distance probably helps

That was my other thought. Just didn’t research enough to find out where they were located lol

Longwood is in central Virginia. About 2.5 hours away.
Mount St Mary's is in northern Maryland. About five hours away.

Akila Smith is like our Jaylin Carodine at JMU...really long arms for her height and plays much taller than she is. Lord, if we could have had both of them.....
