Miss you Kia!

And Sophie too. Ugh.

They need to make a charge in the next three minutes, or just sit everyone.

Regardless of what happens..we need more depth, especially in the post. With Hartley in better form and Cunningham or Peddy back next season, guard depth will be fine…but our post depth is abysmal.

The only disappointment I have in the Mercury today is the lack of offense and assertiveness from Sky. She is the most fit player on the team. She needed to go downhill today and I think she was too passive.

Otherwise, rest and regroup for game 2!

This is always a problem.

Why was Shey not playing? Not the Phoenix bench eating.

Chicago trying to slow the game down doesn’t work. Add in Evans making rookie mistakes and Peddy playing hard and this is what happens.

I guess it's not just SDS who can block Hartley on breakaways...

Can’t doom and gloom on this.

Chicago played EXTREMELY well today, specifically from Copper and Dolson.

If they play like this for two more games, good for them. But a lot of what happened today had to do with what the Mercury didn’t do or couldn’t do because of obvious fatigue.

I don’t expect we will see Griner this slow again this series. That alone changes the entire game.

Now, we also may see the impact of Nurse and NOT ever be rested in this series. That’s something to keep an eye on.

Credit to Chicago though. A lot of teams would have folded when the Mercury came out swinging out of halftime and Chicago came back twice as hard.

Peddy and Bria need to keep the pressure on here and force to Chicago to keep playing some of their starters Laughing

Our bench can be so in sync and then so out of control. Reminds me of the starters.

How can you not love Copper? She’s so humble and complimentary. The “they’re playing great defense on me” is too much though 💀😂

As crazy as this might sound, Smith might be a better matchup against Chicago than Vaughn.

How many times did the Merc just totally throw the ball away? I mean not even come close to another player.

I think that the FCC might have a problem with that. Wink

Or the audio person would be busy.

I think DT should not try to work the officials on her jump shots. A couple of this misses were momentum killers, after not getting the call.

Dolson deserves her respect after this performance today.

Kept Chicago in it early and extended the lead when the Mercury were inching closer in the 3rd.

Gotta admit - less whining from Mercury fans than vs Aces. And a couple even credited Chicago for excellent defensive schemes. Defense on Griner was very well executed. Griner finally said "nah, I don't want to work that hard."

Yes, the Mercury were hit with injuries at a bad time. Might want to check with Seattle about that...

I'll say it again: This is Chicago's year. Taurasi went out with a bang getting this team to the Finals. Her former almost non-existent defense has gone completely AWOL, allowing almost as many points as she scored. Chicago says "Sure we'll take 17 pts if it comes with 6 turnovers and no defense."

If it sounds like Taurasi-bashing, it's not at all. She's had an awesome career and given us all some great sound bytes. Her performance vs the Aces was breathtaking. All hobbled with two injuries and a baby on the way.

I'm happy for Chicago. With all the bad draft picks and players wanting out over the years, they finally put it together. Defense on Griner was well planned and executed. Chicago gratefully received the royally mistreated Candace and returned her to her glory.

Vandersloot with 11 assists and ZERO turnovers.

Solid analysis. One of the things I love about playoff basketball is how hard it is to actually figure out what the hell is going on. You have an advantage in Game 1 and feel great about your chances and then game 2 comes around and it completely flips.

For example, I thought for SURE that the Suns would sweep Milwaukee after how easy games one and two felt. I would have put good money on Milwaukee having no chance to win that in 6.

One of the beautiful things about basketball is how much it varies. Chicago executed today. I fully expect Sandy and co to make the necessary adjustments come Wednesday.

Chicago should be feeling really good but Phoenix should not be feeling out of it.
