Wow, so Brown is out as well. Natasha will be missed. Hope Billing comes up to speed quickly.

Monique Billings signed a Rest-of-Season Hardship Contract with the Dallas Wings.
Does “Rest-of-Season” mean nobody else can claim her once they go off hardship? How much does a player earn doing this?

I think it just means that the contract is open-ended until the specific hardship situation concludes.

There are several of you that are very smart about the rules governing the W. Anyone know if the Wings can just keep Billings and waive someone else? Last year it seemed they had to kick one of Kalani or Sims off an wait before bringing her back to the team. Would hate to see her have the chance to be snatched up by another team.

When a team no longer meets the requirements for a hardship exception, the player signed via that exception must be released. So in this instance, essentially, once Howard is back they have to release Billings. You can't just keep Billings and cut someone else. Nothing to stop them cutting someone and re-signing Billings to a regular contract a little later, but she will be an unrestricted free agent at least temporarily. |

they do, but there is no law against them going "hey, Mo, if you haven't been picked up off waivers, we'll yeet Lou the second we can sign you to a regular contract"

Just for the sake of full accuracy, Billings wouldn't actually be placed on waivers. Replacement contracts just end, and the player is released, rather than waived. So as long as she wants to go back to Dallas, there would be no possibility for anyone else to claim her and make her go somewhere else. |

Although pilight has claimed Billings is playing at a MVP level, would she even be needed if both Sabally and Howard are coming back?

Also, Dallas is already front court heavy when healthy. Replacing a guard with yet another front court player doesn’t make a lot of sense. Maybe they find a trade partner for the third center Soares?
