I'm not saying you're wrong by any means, but that must be pretty damn rare. With all the things that can lead to roster turnover, 11 holdovers from the final day of one season to opening day of the next can't happen very often. |

Ibekwe is a PF despite being listed at 148 lbs. She is very much a Nayo type player -- athletic, high energy, can rebound but can't shoot. Someone may displace R. Allen, but it's going to be a wing player. Faris has a better chance than Ibekwe. |
For some reason I thought Ibekwe played SF sometimes and had a 3 point shot, but it looks like I'm wrong, but even Laimeer was trying to convert Nayo to SF so maybe Katie might try the same with Ify. If R. Allen was dropping 3s all last season I would feel she was safe, but she was sort of a SF who didn't shoot too well either (even though she's had a 3 in the past), so I could still see Ibekwe being brought in as a SF with length, but I defer to your knowledge so if she is only a PF I think her chances are a lot smaller to make the team.
Now Faris, for some reason I see her making the team if we make a trade something like Rodgers and #10 for something or Rodgers and L. Allen for something or Prince and #10 for something. Then I could see Faris maybe getting that 12th spot as a defensive specialist bench wing.
I'm not seeing Gray or Alleyne beating out Zahui B, though I'm not 100% on that. Now if we traded Zahui B and #10 or Stokes, or Stokes and #10 for something than one of the posts we brought in will make it for sure.

The players who get the fewest minutes are the ones most vulnerable. That would be Zahui B and R. Allen (tied with Nayo). L. Allen got a lot of PT because Boyd was hurt. There aren't enough minutes for 3 PGs, so one of those two players will likely be glued to the pine this season.
The little I've read or heard from Smith discussing the young players, at least she gave serious answers about R. Allen and Stokes. Katie said that she wants to get Bec out on the break more because she's best when running. As far as Stokes goes, Smith stuck to Laimbeer's position that Kiah needs to be in better shape. However, when asked about Zahui B, Katie sort of laughed and wondered aloud how they could keep Amanda on the court without her fouling. Based on that little bit of commentary, combined with AZB playing the fewest minutes and Laimbeer accusing her of not knowing the plays, I'd say Zahui is the most vulnerable.

R. Allen & Zahui B didn't nothing last season. I wouldn't say their jobs are guaranteed. And who knows, maybe Faris will challenge L. Allen for a spot. The locks are Charles, Vaughn, Stokes, Zellous, Prince, Rodgers, Boyd.

Bria Hartley appears not to exist for either of you. I'd certainly view her as a lock to make the team.

What did she do last season that makes her a lock ?

Just for clarification I didn't say anyone was a lock. I said I still think that the eleven from last year and the #10 pick are "pretty safe" meaning I don't think any of the current camp signees will knock them off. It is possible someone will break through, or that the situation will change but ATM I still would put R. Allen, L. Allen and Zahui B slightly ahead of the competition for their spots. Maybe safe was too strong of a word, but I would still give them the edge.

I’d say Hartley is probably a lock since she got signed as a restricted free agent. It’s kind of unusual for a signed RFA to get traded unless the trade is announced at the time of the signing, and probably unheard of for a RFA to get cut... although maybe Faris got cut after signing as a RFA? I wonder if pilight has some data on this sort of thing? It’d be an interesting thing to know how often a freshly signed RFA gets cut the same season. Hooper might be a good candidate to get cut.

Hartley was way better than I expected last year, but based on her performance in Washington, my expectations were pretty low.

Dream signed Jasmine Thomas as an RFA, then traded her on draft day.

If I recall correctly, NY did the same thing with Alex Montgomery. Still, I would say it's unusual.
Listening to that podcast (thanks pilight) Katie Smith compares Ibekwe to Bec Allen, so maybe she does think of Ibekwe as a small forward. As far as I can remember, I've mostly seen Ify as a PF overseas, and maybe a little at center. That's why my comparison to Raincock. Meanwhile, I've noticed Allen playing 1,2,3 in Australia but never 4. Another glaring difference -- Ibekwe almost never shoots 3s while Allen shoots a lot of them.
Smith said some nice things about Alleyne and Gray. We'll see if they get a serious look. If NY ends up taking a post player with that 1st round pick, then the team may very well end up as the returning 11 plus a pick. I think a lot will be based on the draft because management hasn't shown any urgency so far when it comes to free agents or trades.

I've only really seen Ibekwe play down here. She was on a size-deficient team, and this is already (most years) a size-deficient league. So while she was mostly a 4 here I always thought of her as someone who probably needed to get a bit more 3 into her game to make it at the top level.
She attempted 1.5 threes per game down here, which is not a reluctant shooter for a PF, but only hit them at 27%

Well, like four days after they announced the pick-a-seat event, and three days before said event, they finally figured out a price range and a seating chart. The cheapest seats in this dump are $29. are you fucking serious?

Just wow. $29 plus round trip metro north ticket (approx $21) plus headaches. No thank you. My torch has officially been snuffed.

I may have asked this before but,
NY fans who know the International game as draft options go what about
Vadeeva in NY, good idea or bad idea?
What I know is she a top International prospect, she is a center which isn't our strongest position, and she plays with Prince.

1) How does Katie Smith want to play? Vadeeva is arguably better offensively than any post NY has other than Charles. If you just want to add an offensive option (or button as Laimbeer used to call it), then Vadeeva can probably help. If NY is still emphasizing defense, then there are probably better choices.
2) Is Vadeeva ever coming over? If so, when? Given that management has done very little so far, the 1st Round pick may be our biggest chance at improvement. You don't want to waste that selection on someone who may never show up.
3) Who else is left on the board? We don't know if anyone is coming out early who could push the rest of the board down. And right now, there seems to be very little agreement on the order after Wilson. I think a team only takes Vadeeva if they don't think any American player can crack their rotation right now. In that case, they might as well take a foreign player and stash her overseas until ready.

Nice talk given by Katie Smith at the Liberty pick your seat day
in Westchester . She sounded excited and ready to go...took lots of Q & A's
The best line heard about Bill from a fan was :
"its OK he left ...he was past his expiration date"
