congrats. well deserved. And I think it's rare to go to a player from a team that likely won't go real deep in the tourney.

I often question if Charlie Creme watches games. He’s more of a numbers guy.
I’m not saying ESPNW’s list is way off. I’m just saying nobody really cares about their awards.

I agree with Shades on some as they seem more for clicks than being serious, plus 2 of of them are very west coast biased, I would never have included Anigwe as her stats for a post are lower than a guards and she is a turnover machine.
Gustafson was easy and thank goodness as she has been putting up those numbers for 2 years, ie 20% higher than Anigwe, just think about that.

A little fact check. For their careers, here are the comparisons:
Points per game Anigwe - 20.3 Gustafson - 20.6
Rebounds/game Anigwe - 10.9 Gustafson - 10.7
Assists per game Anigwe - 0.9 Gustafson - 1.1
Steals per game Anigwe - 0.9 Gustafson - 0.5
Blocks per game Anigwe - 1.6 Gustafson - 1.7
Anigwe was playing injured a good part of last year so her numbers were down, but for her career the stats are nearly identical. And while Gustafson commits fewer turnovers Anigwe is a far better defender.

I thought ESPN was supposed to be anti-B1G and PAC-12 since they have their own networks aren't affiliated with them like the SEC, AAC, and other conferences are. I can't keep up with the changing narratives.

What on earth do any of those have to do with my comment. Gustafson A POST shot 70% from the field, Anigwe A POST shot 51% from the field. Trying to erase how bad of a % that is for A POST by quoting those numbers shows nothing. Guards shoot better and clearly they are not a foot from the basket. Anigwe is also not a good free shooter. Megan 80%, Anigwe 65%. Anigwe had 104 turnovers to 32 assists, Megan 61 turnovers to 44 assists.
This is a POY award for 2019 so your stats are irrelevant. The turnovers are very relevant as it is important to know when to pass to get an open shot and if your free throw % is low along with your FG%, this player hurts the team on the floor.
Oh and you mean when she wouldn’t play and your team lost in the tournament? Even Clay knew that was bogus.

Yeah, where did THAT come from?? Anigwe is an amazing star in her own right. Had she been on a team that won its P5 Conference, she may have well been an even stronger contender for the title.[/quote]
You mean like shoulda, woulda, coulda. Gustafson just got her team in the top 8, looking and I don’t see Cal in the top 25. Oh and Caldwell had a 98 espn grade and 6 in PN, Forbes had a 97, Smith had a 98, Brown a 95 and 39 by PN, CJ West was 48 by PN, Styles was 30 by PN, not to mention Anigwe was top 10 and Gustafson was 84, hard to even find Iowa on the rankings. So tell me again, why it would have been easier for Anigwe, I mean it’s not like there isn’t talent on her team that she could pass to without turning it over!

HAHAHA, burn.
Never been a fan of Cal or Anigwe. Underachievers with a lot of excuses.
Gustafson should win all POY awards and there is little argument against it.

She has very little help. The other players on that team are no better than what we saw every night in the SoCon.

Which of course contributes to her numbers (not her fg%). That said, I have absolutely no problem w/ her being named POY.
