While I'm normally opposed to municipalities spending tax dollars on venues for sports teams, there really is a need for a building in New York City that holds something like 7,000 to 12,000 people for basketball and concert events that suit a building that size. |
I'm still kind of amazed that that venue doesn't already exist. Never mind basketball - where do bands with a decent following but not an MSG-size fanbase play when they go to New York? |

They play at Beacon Theater, Forest Hills Stadium, and even Atlantic City.

Oddly enough, that's a similar problem in the Bay Area. We've got big arenas and small clubs, but no 8,000-seaters, really, that are good venues.

Isn't the HP Pavilion in San Jose a smaller arena? Like around 10k capacity?

One article I saw mentioned that WCC would have to be restructured to be a long-term viable option for the Libs. It’s not only the amount of seats but the fact that the building has some obstructed views for basketball. The roof is high enough that I think the place could be renovated into a horseshoe-like seating structure with some portable seats on the stage and behind the basket. Not only could that easily be done to accommodate around 7K, but it would make the building much more viable for other non-stage events. And it would eliminate the obstructed view issues.

The Liberty should also arrange shuttles from NYC to bring more fans in. They can reconfigure the arena for more seats, but if only 2k continue to show up, what's the point?

That’s undeniably true from a numbers standpoint. Even if it’s 4K I think the other issue is the obstructed views. It’s hard to have incentive to attend a game that you can’t see.

Clarendon got a lot of assists last year, but wasn't particularly good otherwise.
Other than her 3P% being off, Sykes is playing about the same as last year.
