Seriously though, good for Moschkau. I hope she gets some playing time there and can play in front of family. She was, after all ranked around #40 when she came out of HS. |
Pretty sure she will. Badgers are hurting for players of ability.

Oregon state ads Elli Mack a grad transfer from Bucknell. She's a 6'3 F who can hit the 3 and who lead Patriot lead in scoring and rebounding as Bucknell one three state league titles.
She, along with Corosdale, provide some versatile options as both are long but also threats from deep. Also both are seniors so can provide some leadership to the legion of trees in corvallis. I suspect this means that Kennedy Brown Will use next season to redshirt and recover from your late season injury, and that they're bringing along Aquino, Mitrovic, and Simmons along very slowly. Maybe some of them have plans to move on.

Have you heard of the old saying about being the largest fish in a small pond? Ole Miss has subzero talent on that squad. She will be the centerpiece of the team moving forward.

And there's nothing like putting up big numbers to get you a better pro contract.

Good pick-up for Ole Miss and Coach Yo. They were miserable this past season, and are still dealing with some player attrition to the roster as Coach McPhee-McCuin tries to build the program, but Austin could be a huge center piece (literally) for the future.
This past season was a scrambled egg one: only 5 players on the roster played all 30 games, and only 3 started more than 20 gms. It has had some attrition: JUCO transfer Valerie Nesbitt only played 15 gms and was the #2 scorer on the team, but she and Ole Miss parted ways in the middle of last season. Freshman Dumitrescu was making a huge impact to the team with 4.5 ppg and team leading 7.3 rpg but was lost after only 6 games to an ACL injury.
Another JUCO transfer Dominique Banks finished 2019-21 as the team's leading rebounder after Dumitrescu was lost at 6.0 rpg to go along with 6.0 ppg, but she entered the transfer portal. Also top freshman scorer Jayla Alexander, who would have been the top returning scorer at 9.5 ppg, has also transferred out.
With leading scorer Deja Cage graduated, that means a total shake up of the etch-a-sketch, and start all over again. The top returning players now are guards Mimi Reid who led the team in assists, and Taylor Smith, and 6-2 F Iyalan Kitchens. All 3 players will be seniors for next season.
Perhaps a starting 5 of Reid, Smith, Dumitrescu, Kitchens, and Austin to start the season?

Valerie Nesbitt pulled her name out of the transfer portal. Apparently she and Coach Yo have patched up their differences and decided to try again. They are acquaintances of long standing.

Has Austin got immediate eligibility ? Or are you under the assumption she will and the NCAA will change the rules soon ?

I'm under the assumption that the NCAA may respond to the stoppage of athletics due to the COVID-19 virus, and waive some things for 20-21.....

Since the end of the 2017 season, Maryland has had a lot of highly ranked recruits come and go, but they're still really good. Anyone know how many? Brenda has some magic about her or something. It's so strange.

Former McDonalds AA Ayanna Clark follows Cynthia Cooper to Texas Southern. Clark committed to USC and Cooper in her sophomore year but did not graduate on time and had to repeat a year of high school at LB Poly. She ended up at Central Arizona CC and was there for two years. I hope she's gotten it together. She's a tremendous talent who averaged a double double at Central Arizona. Very surprised she didn't go for a bigger program. She was ranked the #1 post in 2017 by ESPN.

Brenda has long had a reputation for being a better recruiter than coach. But I'm not sure that her coaching is the problem here. Maryland has a couple of good guards coming off red-shirt years who are going to be competing for starting positions, and I wonder if Taylor thought that she was going to be relegated to coming off the bench. Still and notwithstanding Brenda's mucking about with Taylor's 3 pt shooting drills, Taylor did shoot a higher percentage from 3 pt range this year than she did last, although she didn't take quite as many shots. But the difference isn't large.
But wow. Next thing you know, Destiny Slocum will transfer back in....

Sometimes players click more with an assistant than they do with a head, and if the assistant goes, they do too...sometimes where the AC goes, other times not, depending on whether there are openings.

If Clark has indeed gotten it together, she will make a big impact at Texas Southern. When she wanted to, she was a force inside -- but in the past, she preferred playing on the perimeter, and discipline (as shown by her academic issues) has never been a strong suit.
Love to see it happen for her ... she could be very, very good.
