I was surprised to see Sloot as low as a 13 seed in the first place. 8v9 is a choice between greatness and longevity again. |

Sloot is way underseeded. There's no good reason for her to be lower than Staley, for example. She still shouldn't be beating Yo.

Recency bias.

We now have a clear answer to the question: "Who is the most underrated WNBA player ever?"

It's a shame about Yolanda ... she could dominate a game and score 10 points.
Not only recency bias, but East Coast bias -- Sacramento was just too remote to really think about.

What is “East Coast” about Chicago?

Has Vandersloot ever played for an east coast team?

Chicago is one time zone away from the East Coast. For a long time, Chicago was considered the "second city" to New York, and now I think would be considered the third most "important" city in the United States.
Please rank Sacramento, three time zones away, in a similar manner. Despite being the capital of California, I doubt many east of the Mississippi could place it on a map.

Agreed.
She's underseeded but this should still be a blowout in Yo's favor. There's an argument Yo is underseeded here as well.
Perhaps when Sloot's career is done if she keeps up her trajectory she would have a solid argument here. But right now?
No. Just, no.

Hammon vs. Toliver is an interesting one for me. Yes, Kristi has had the luxury of playing alongside three league MVP’s but I’m not so sure I would rank her too far behind Hammon.

What a bunch of nitpickers. I assume Clay was referring to the east coast of the Mississippi River. The more important geograpghical question is whether California is still part of the United States.
Regardless, I'm among the few who know where Sacramento is. Davis. Placerville. The American River. Huki Outriggers. Lake Natoma. Folsom prison. So many great memories. |

I think it’s more of an upward trajectory bias. Griffin’s best year was arguably her first year in the WNBA, and she went on a somewhat slow decline ever since. Eleven years in the WNBA, only playing 3 games in her last year due to an Achilles injury.
Sloot has played 9 years in the WNBA, her last three being her best (no less than 8 apg). She holds the single season assists record, 6th in career assists, with little to stop her reaching #1.

Stewart with a commanding lead over Bonner. It should be an easy win for Bonner due to titles and various awards, but it's clearly a popularity contest. Stewart has played just two seasons, one title and one MVP award.

With all due respect to Courtney, it’s pretty hard to yield results better than this:
WNBA Championship MVP
WNBA MVP
Defensive POY
8x All-Star
2x Rebounding Champion (Considered by many to be the best offensive rebounder in the history of the game.)

Those two years are better than Bonner’s career, imo. She came in and reached a level Bonner never will.

And none of that reflects her powerful presence on the court -- you did not want to have Yo do more than stare at you (which was intimidating enough).

Also, y'know, it's actually three seasons. But like I said, can be argued either way for longevity vs greatness. |

The race has narrowed considerably, but Sloot still leads
