If Parker and Ogwumike aren't 100%, the travel and the Mystics will make it a very tough game to win.
As I mentioned in another thread, coaching high school girls, I've had more experience with mono than I'd like, and the worst case was a strong, tough girl who was out five months -- and couldn't even go to school for two months.
Nneka might be able to bounce back, but the only cure is rest, and I don't think she's getting much on the commercial flight.
And if Parker has the flu or whatever, and it lingers, that pretty much does in the Sparks' frontcourt ... |
agree... Nneka used hella energy.... what will she have left.
i just don't think the bench bigs are strong enough to spell both candace and nneka for heavy mins.

The Mystics are not exactly post oriented. They run three guards most of the time, with skinny Sanders as the primary post option. LA should be able to get by defensively with Lavender/Vadeeva.
OTOH, Agler won't take Ogwumike or Parker out for any extended period of time even if they're sick. Nneka played 36 minutes against the Lynx.

The game is nearly 3/4 of a day away, and you people are going crazy with speculation?
Yes, my Ladies are sick & tired, and the Mystics are supposed to be rested and ready to run the Sparks legs off. I just want to see our bench players come up big when spelling the starters. I hope Las Lynx game was a sign that Riquna is in one of her hot rhythms. I hope Chelsea is alive from downtown too as we need to balance or surpass the efforts from Elena & Kristi. I just hope we are tough enough & robust enough to exploit the paint.
But I really don't care for speculation. let's set up and play already!!!

Washington has a history of underperforming in the playoff. As a Merc fan, I’m rooting for LA bc I want to avoid Seattle. |

I think the Storm have a bigger chance to win against the Sparks in a series then the Mystics.

I’m not entirely sure on that honestly. I was hoping to avoid them until the finals haha. |

Washington won a pair of single elimination games last year, including a road game.

I worry about LA's defense. They match up well (superior than most teams in the WNBA) against the Mystics

I agree it's not a great matchup for Washington. Not because the Sparks play great defense but because T-Bone is perfectly content to play at LA's languid pace. Agler wants to slow the game down so he can forget about his bench and not worry about his starters being gassed in the 4th quarter. Letting them do that plays right into their hands.

Call me Captain Obvious, but the chances of the Sparks pulling this one out depends on how hard and well Parker and Ogwumike can play. I am not feeling terribly optimistic, but I am hoping they pull it out.
Small sample size, but since the playoff structure changed in 2016, the # 3 seed has never won a game to advance to the semifinals. Let's hope this holds! And no, we don't need to talk about the fact that the team beating the # 3 seed in the second round has always been swept in the semifinals.
Go Sparks! |

I give this one to the Mystics if Toliver shows up.
